Federal agents shot a woman in the Brighton Park neighborhood on Chicago's Southwest Side Saturday morning after they became boxed in by vehicles, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. DHS originally said the shooting happened while agents were patrolling in Broadview, where the department has a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility that has been the site of ongoing protests and clashes between agents and demonstrators. But officials later confirmed the incident happened near 40th Street and Kedzie Avenue in Chicago. The patrolling agents were rammed by vehicles and "boxed in by 10 cars," according to a statement from the Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin. DHS said the agents were unable to move their vehicles and got out of the car.
Survivors of Jeffrey Epstein's sex trafficking crimes will return to the Capitol to hold another press conference demanding Congress force a vote to release the Epstein files. On Wednesday, Oct. 8, survivors will stand alongside Republican Rep. Thomas Massie and Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna to support the pair's bipartisan bill, the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of the few Republican supporters of the bill, will be in attendance as well. Epstein survivors last held a press conference with the congresspeople on Sept. 3"during which time Trump had a fighter jet fly over their words and drown them out. A pornographic blog linked to Virginia lieutenant governor candidate John Reid shared content from accounts that fetishized Nazism and sexual violence. The Republican candidate has denied ownership of the blog, which was hosted on Tumblr under the name JRDeux, the same handle he uses on Instagram and TikTok. Other news outlets have reported on the existence of the blog, but not its racist content or disturbing imagery. Top state Republicans believe JRDeux is Reid.
