According to those who served with him the unit was well aware the deployment was coming before it was official.

Let's look at Bellringer's "issues"
1. Walz claimed to have been a veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Facts: He is. Bellringer has an issue with him not serving in the combat zone.
2. Walz said, "We can make sure that those weapons of war that I carried in war is the only place where those weapons are at."
Facts: He did carry them. He just wasn't using them on the front line and never claimed to be. Bellringer still whines. JD Vance claims he served in a combat zone as well...although in a cool aid conditioned office for only 6 months.
3. Walz said, "Over the preceding years of watching us, and as our nation changed, and as our political systems became more difficult for all of us to understand, I stood one night in the dark of night on the tarmac at Bagram and watched a military ramp ceremony"
Facts: Again true. Bellringer is whining that he didn't go to Bagram while deployed but instead as a Congressman.
4. At least three former Guard members who served with Walz have come forward to accuse him of shirking his duty to his troops by quitting the Guard to run for Congress.
Facts: Dude served 24 years and decided to run for Congress. Oh and he won that election. There was a rumor they MIGHT go to Iraq. Nothing more when he announced his retirement. And he had announced his run for office months before.
5. Walz lied about attaining the rank of Command Sergeant Major.
Facts: Walz was promoted to Command Sergeant Major. But he never finished the paper work to retire from the Guard at the level of that.
Literally everything Walz said is true and there is zero evidence he left to avoid Iraq (actually likely impossible given he announced running for office months before that even).
But I guess that's not good enough for Jeff and Republicans.
Ethics and norms are purely situational
