The good old appeal to authority. As it is, this type of thing has no scientific consensus which is why Europe and Scandinavia have been pumping the breaks on these procedures for minors.

How about the appeal to facts? In 2019 there were 0 gender affirming surgeries for children under the age of 12 and .0021% of trans youth under 17.

I'm not sure in what way my trans son is limited in what he can do in life. He can do everything any other man can do except stick his penis in stuff. While I will be the first to admit that sticking your penis in stuff is a great part about being a man as I've gotten older sticking my penis in stuff has become a much smaller part of my identity. So he just kind of beat me to that level.

I really can not think of anything else he would be limited in accomplishing unless society chooses to limit him for some reason.

20 years or so ago I had several friends who were LE. None of them are still active in LE the atmosphere drove them out. For years I have defended LE against ACAB because of my past associations. Turns out most of them would now agree ACAB and why they left the force. I believe we may have crossed the tipping point and the cops will only get worse as they drive the last few good cop hold outs off the forces.

I will say there are a few jurisdictions where the ones who got into LE to protect and serve are still the majority; but at least in my state the state cops, who are some of the worst of the bunch, will ignore the locals if they want, so just being in the jurisdictions is no guarantee of fair and honest policing.

I am not sure what the answer is but at this point if a leader wants a police state it seems the police will be happy to enforce it.

I don't disagree but honestly not sure what the laws and standards for ICE have traditionally been. I mean the "joke" about if there's a long line at home depot and you are in in a hurry just yell ICE has been around a lot longer than the Trump Presidency. That would imply that profiling by location and skin tone is not new. I don't like it regardless of age. It really sucks for the couple first and second generation immigrants I know who carry documentation with them everywhere they go and worry about going certain places regardless of their documentation status.

See above response. While the behavior has been abhorrent and the number of citizen and documented people that they are rounding up is unacceptable I don't know that it is worse than standard for ICE. So possibly not the best use of outrage.

This admin is doing everything it can to flood the zone with outrage. So we need to be careful to properly target outrage instead of giving in to the daily cascade of it.

I saw some photos from the NY/VT state line and it was pretty amazing. I mean they used a slow shutter speed so it looked even more impressive but even taking that into account the number of fireflies was beyond anything I remember in at least a decade probably two.

I know quite a few cruise people. They all try and get me to go on one but I have yet to succumb to peer pressure.

I've done peak season Vegas, I don't feel the need to do the same but on water. I'll take the cost of the cruise and rent a nice cabin with a view of the sun rising or setting over the mountains, no neighbors in sight, and a private hot tub. Much more my speed for a vacation.
