Trump has assigned Speaker Johnson the job of disrupting the Democratic National Convention with a slew of lawsuit over the switcher-roo.

House Speaker Mike Johnson reiterated Sunday that any attempt by Democrats to sub in a new candidate in place of President Joe Biden is likely to be met by legal challenges.

Speaking on ABC's "This Week," Johnson said, "Every state has its own system, and in some of these, it's not possible to simply just switch out a candidate."

Johnson's assertion, which echoed remarks he made during the Republican National Convention, suggests a strategy Republicans could be looking toward should Biden decides to withdraw from the presidential election. "I think in states where it can be contested, I expect that it will be, and they'll have an interesting battle on their hands," the Louisiana Republican said Thursday of a possible switch.

Technically, Biden has not yet been formally nominated to be the Democratic presidential candidate and won't be until a vote of the delegates selected to the Democratic National Convention. Still, Johnson said there might be grounds for a challenge, given that Biden was the overwhelming winner of the party's primaries.

"I think they would run into some legal impediments in at least a few of these jurisdictions," he told host Martha Raddatz. "We'll see how it plays out."

You could be right. The next presidential debate is Sept.10th. (the Democratic Nat'l convention is Aug. 19 - 22.)

However, Trump himself may be looking for an exit. He's pushing back on ABC because he says they're biased. So he wants FOX (lol) to host the debate.

Harris is not going to agree with THAT idiotic idea.

I don't know how serious this threat is . . . or if it's just another Trump engineered "Hail Mary" . . . but it sounds like Biden's decision has thrown Trump and the GOP into a tailspin.

Trump, as usual, will respond with anything he can think of to create chaos in the Democrat nominating process, even if he has to take it all the way to his BFF's in the U.S. Supreme Court to get his way.

When I used thr word "zinger" in my #3, I was thinking about Speaker Johnson's threat to file a lawsuit over "switching out" Harris or Biden, which he claims is illegal in some jurisdictions.

I'll be joining that group as soon as she secures the nomination. I don't trust the Republican Party to pull some kind of a zinger just to upset the apple cart.

I have to say, though, that I'm pleasantly surprised at how fast the division in the Democrat Party disappeared, actually almost immediately after Biden made his decision.

I don't think an Executive Order can override a Supreme Court decision but a second term for a Democrat as President can go a long way toward pushing forward on ethnics and perhaps even impeachments, after a proper and thorough investigation, of course. Bulletproof to the inth degree.

If it was me, I'd push for the whole enchilada ~ have Thomas and Alito disbarred.

Russia seems to be having the same problem. Not just because of heavy losses of conscripts and cannon fodder but with a staggering loss of tanks and fighter jets as well. Not to mention that Zelenskyy now has the go-ahead from the U.S. to launch long range missiles deep across Russia's border to destroy Russia's own missile launch sites and encampments.

Russia's own dire situation is evidenced by the fact that Mr. Putin announced a "clean up" of his own Ministry of Defense, blaming his generals for Russia's failures to make significant headways, not to mention the staggering loss of troops, equipment and naval war ships . . . which, incidentally, have all pulled out of the Black Sea and Russia's high value port in Crimea, for reasons suspected (in the crosshairs) but not yet officially known.

I like Kamala Harris, but I also know how the U.S. feels about a woman president.

Therefore, my personal preference, if Biden should step down, would be Adam Schiff.

There's been a lot of water under the bridge about Trump since 2016. As a whole, people barely knew about his history of vile contempt for America, his pedophilia, his rendering of women to mere chattel, his obsessive and compulsive lying, his mental decay, his close association with world dictators, (Russia's Vladimir Putin in particular), his power grab of the U.S. Supreme Court, his intent to shred the U.S. Constitution, his intent to be a Dictator, his intent to militarize the DOJ against American citizen, his cruelty . . . and hundreds of other things outlined in the manifesto he calls Project 2025.

That's a whole lot of information that people didn't know then . . . but they do now.

As women vote, so goes the vote of their husbands.

What greater gift could a husband and father of daughters give than his commitment to their health and wellbeing.

Trump is anti-America so expect anything. Plus, Trump is so insecure that anything attached to Biden (or Obama) administrations is a threat to his ego.

This is an interesting development that appears, on the surface, that Mr. Putin has received intelligence that his "sacred home ports in Crimea" are in the crosshairs.

What I find more interesting about the topic of this thread is that Cannon collaborated with a Supreme Court Justice, Clarence Thomas who, himself has motives of his own to help Trump get back in the Oval Office.

In my opinion, Cannon's irrational and unfounded decision to dismiss sounds more like a "Hail Mary" decision written by Clarence Thomas to delay, thus protect himself from the scrutiny that would be headed his way in Biden's second term. An unwelcome scrutiny, incidentally, that is gaining ground in the Court of Public Opinion.

In fact, I'm not sure it was Cannon who solicited Justice Thomas. I'm thinking it could be the other way round. It could be Thomas solicited her to keep himself out of hot water.

Being a bobblehead V.P. is hard work, doncha know?

It doesn't really matter who Trump picked. Trump doesn't share the spotlight with anyone. All Vance has to do is paste a smile on his face and nod his head up and down.

IOW, Orban is Trump's "phone call" to Mr. Putin that Trump doesn't want anybody, not even his staff who might turn against him some day, to know about.

Trump is very cagey about leaving his footprints at the scene of the crimes he commits.

McConnell is on Trump's "enemies list" so the booing was probably engineered by Trump.

When McConnell said that he was going to make sure Obama never got a second term, that said it all for me a long time ago.

First impressions are lasting impressions. I've viewed him with a jaundice eye ever since.

He also did an end run around a ban on Russian companies operating a manufacturing company in the U.S. in competition with U.S. manufacturing . He allowed a Russian owned aluminum manufacturing plant to set up business in his home state of Kentucky. Because . . . high unemployment and Kentucky needed jobs.

There's no telling how much money McConnell palmed in that deal.

I suppose the publicity of one attempted assassination could bring out the copy-cats.

The impression I'm getting is that Cannon's dismissal is just another delaying tactic.

Unless she's the dumbest Federal Judge in history (always a possibility) she knowns that her decision is going to be overturned. If a third time is a charm, maybe this is Jack's Smith's opportunity to petition the 11th Circuit to remove her from the case. And maybe even from the bench.
