In the US, people are getting away with murder. The clearance rate, the share of cases that result in an arrest or are otherwise solved, was 58% in 2023. In other words, a murderer's chance of getting caught within a year essentially comes down to a coin flip. For other crimes, clearance rates are even lower. Only 8% of car thefts result in an arrest. Compared with its peers, America overall does an unusually poor job of solving killings. The murder clearance rates of other rich nations, including Australia, Britain, and Germany, hover in the 70s, 80s and even 90s. Several issues, including a lack of resources, the sheer volume of cases, and a distrust of the police, have converged to make the jobs of American detectives much more difficult. "It's a serious problem," said Philip Cook, a criminal justice researcher at Duke University. The lack of legal accountability emboldens criminals, leading to more crime and violence resulting in "a vicious cycle." read more

Noah Lamb (24) was charged in the Eastern District of California in an eight-count indictment for conspiracy, soliciting the murder of federal officials, and other offenses in connection with his work on a hit list of "high value targets" for assassination. Lamb was a member of the Terrorgram Collective, a transnational terrorist group that operates on the digital messaging platform Telegram, where it promotes racially or ethnically motivated violent extremism. Members of the Terrorgram Collective believe the white race is superior; that society is irreparably corrupt and cannot be saved by political action; and that violence and terrorism are necessary to ignite a race war and accelerate the collapse of the government and the rise of a white ethnostate.

  • If convicted, Lamb faces a maximum penalty of 85 years in prison.
  • An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. read more

#9: Hi Hamburglar: Do you know why supposedly the Russian KGB would give Dummkopf Trumpf the codename Krasnov?

    alchetron.com

Pyotr Krasnov was a famous Russian general who fought against the USSR during the Great Patriotic War. In Russia, the name Pyotr Krasnov is akin to Benedict Arnold for us in America.

This is just as I predicted in this OP two weeks ago: drudge.com

Jair Bolsonaro's son is working behind the scenes from Texas to get Trumpf's intervention to free his loser father (a Matt Gaetz doppelganger).

The same Brazilian Supreme Court Justice in this case also defied Felon Musk several months ago. Felon then threatened this judge with hideous 'X' posts.

#15: This Republican dumfuq Ted Cruz also fled to Mexico during a terrible winter storm and blackout, abandoning his constituents: www.bbc.com

Moron Republicans will keep voting for moron Republicans. And I bet the US Ambassador to Greece (a Trumpf daughter-in-law or somesuch) ensured he received VIP treatment at Athens Intl Airport.

#29: Hi American Unity: You and your wife are lucky indeed. I ended up doing a career in the US Army when music and all else failed, which allowed me to join USAA.

BTW: I have a large library and I'm happy to lend my books out, with the exception of two tomes which never leave my humble abode upon pain of death: Beethoven's Letters and The Meditations of Marcus Aurelius.

If you haven't read them, I humbly suggest you do and add them to your library.

Otherwise, friends and neighbors borrow my Damon Runyans, Shakespeares, Agatha Christies, or P.G. Wodehouses. But never those two.

My ever-loving wife just came home so I have to fire up her dinner (Oriental sesame chicken, Japanese gohan, and sauteed mushrooms with garlic and onions. And we're listening to Bizet's L'Arlsienne Suite.
