California Gov. Gavin Newsom, a pioneer for LGBTQ+ rights who decades ago upset leaders in his own party when he defied state law and issued marriage licenses to same-sex couples, suggested Democrats were in the wrong in allowing transgender athletes to participate in female college and youth sports. "I think it's an issue of fairness, I completely agree with you on that. It is an issue of fairness " it's deeply unfair," Newsom said in his debut podcast episode of "This is Gavin Newsom." "I am not wrestling with the fairness issue. I totally agree with you." read more
It turns out that abandoning allies and tossing out security guarantees is bad for business. While U.S. defense stocks are slumping, European defense stocks are rising quickly because the markets have concluded that those governments will be spending lots more on defense. And every government around the world knows what happened to Zelensky last week in the Oval Office. The conclusion that many leaders will draw from the altercation that Trump and Vance had with Zelensky is that U.S. security guarantees-a key reason why countries tend to buy U.S. weapons- are not going to be a convincing argument anymore. Since Trump's inauguration, shares in the six biggest U.S. defense companies have fallen by an average of 4 percent. Meanwhile, shares of Europe's largest defense groups - including Germany's Rheinmetall - "have surged" by almost 40 percent in the same period. read more
Traders are starting to price in the possibility that the U.S. economy might fall into a recession - and one Wall Street veteran says that might actually be the Trump administration's plan. read more
Trump, during an Oval Office meeting with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, tempered his comments about Zelensky, including a social media post last week in which Trump called Zelensky a "dictator with elections." When asked by a reporter whether he still believed Zelensky was a dictator, Trump responded: "Did I say that? I can't believe I said that. Next question. read more
Trump announced Wednesday that the Resolute Desk has been temporarily removed from the Oval Office to be "refinished," a touch-up that occurred just days after Elon Musk's son seemingly picked his nose and wiped it on the historic piece of furniture. read more
This doesn't mean touch screens are set to disappear on new Volkswagens, just that drivers will now have the option of physical controls for their most used day-to-day tasks.
So limited in scope, but still an improvement. I guess it would be impossible to have buttons for every function. :(

Shouldn't the muscle mass advantage disappear over time as the amount of male hormones decrease and female hormones increase? And, since muscle weighs more than fat, shouldn't the weight advantage also disappear with time?

Muscle mass decreases with lack of male hormones, but it doesn't disappear entirely.
Even after a male has undergone hormone therapy, research shows that, while those biological advantages decrease, they are still far more prominent than similarly aged and trained women. Men have 30-60 percent higher muscle strength than women, and undergoing testosterone suppression decreases that strength by only 0-9 percent - a far cry from an even playing field for even the strongest female athletes.I was just giving a few examples of obvious differences. There are many more that make biological males competing in women's sports unfair (e.g., bone density and strength affecting maximum weight-carrying ability, narrower hips allowing for higher speed, longer legs). Those are unlikely to be changed very much by hormone treatment. And those breastseses that biological women carry around are pretty much useless in most sports, just deadweight.

Once again, we're talking about tenths (or hundredths) of a second separating winners from losers. If trans women want to have their own division, have at it. But claiming that they are in the same position as biological women just because they had hormone treatment seems incorrect.
Of the 1,025 people who identified as Democrats or leaning Democrat, 67% said transgender athletes should not be allowed to compete with women.Liberals living in a bubble: "Newsom has no shot at winning Dem support now!"

He's going to force the Fed to cut interest rates by causing a recession. The rest of the country can burn, so long as he gets to save a millions on his business loans.
President Trump will personally benefit from the Fed rate cut he pushed
The recent Federal Reserve interest rate cut has clear political benefits for President Trump, but it appears the cut will be doubly beneficial to him, as he also now stands to save millions in loan payments in coming years as a result of the rate cut.
