More from the article...

... As millions have been priced out of buying homes over the past few years, housing became an important issue for American voters during the 2024 presidential race. Trump ran on the campaign promise of lowering home prices and increasing inventory through mass deportations and deregulations of the construction sector, while he said mortgage rates would drop as a result of the growth of the U.S. economy.

However, home prices are still rising across the U.S., and housing experts fear the impact that Trump's immigration policies and tariffs on goods imported from Canada, especially softwood lumber, could have on construction costs and inventory levels. ...

"the issue is no longer a priority for the president"

He's silent because he's not going to do, is incapable of doing, anything about it.

It's Trump's pattern to run away from things he can't threaten or buy into submission

...worry that the issue is no longer a priority for the president.

Was it ever a priority? Other than something else to blame on immigrants?

Can't touch housing. Too many peeps are relying on the housing shortage to prop up their property values.

All started with Dubbya's strategy of increasing consumer spending by inflating home values. Any decrease in home prices would cause a recession that we may not be able claw out of for a generation.

"Any decrease in home prices would cause a recession that we may not be able claw out of for a generation."

That's the idea.

There won't be an American middle class any more, it will die off with Gen X and the Millennials.

The only sound you'll hear from the Trump administration on housing.

Is the sound of tear gas canisters being launched into homeless encampments.

The "everything is fine" crowd now want's to blame this on Trump. Same crowd wants Trump to fix everything that wasn't wrong.

"The "everything is fine" crowd"

Not sure who's saying everything is fine.
My consistent messaging on the housing crisis is there are ten to twenty times more vacant housing units than homeless people.
There's plenty of housing.
What there isn't plenty of is affordable housing.

That's the best your current alias can proffer?

Not even up to what I consider the level of trolling?

But an unsubstantiated ad hominem attack?

So lame.
