I know this poll is a couple of years old, but it's results still havent changed. 76% of U.S. adults favor the concept of early voting. Two other election law policies are supported by even more Americans -- requiring photo identification to vote (84%) and providing proof of citizenship when registering to vote for the first time (83%). Smaller majorities of Americans -- 60% each -- favor automatic voter registration, whereby citizens are registered when they do business with state agencies such as the Department of Motor Vehicles, and sending absentee ballot applications to all eligible voters.

On the matter of obsessions, there would be BellRinger and the trans.

Is there a clinical name for obsessing about matters that presumably don't affect the sufferer at all? Then constantly trying to generate as much activity around that obsession as possible?

Maybe it's a matter for the DSM-VI, presently the DSM-V Revised. That whole book angers people like Bellringer and Boaz to the point of distraction, and at least AttentionWhore may be intellectually curious enough to look it up. Boaz would just hide under or put on his sheets.

Neil Young makes some grand and what seem more like self-glorifying gestures, such as removing himself from a streaming platform because it also had Joe Rogan on it. Am I correct on that? Didn't he later return?

I think he's a great songwriter and creative musician over a long period of time. In my early teens it was all CSNY. He's also a huge proponent of autism education.

These types of issues, well: big news, little splash. He does more with his music than by giving it away or withholding it.

And he's Canadian. Maybe he's a dual citizen. Glad he's so concerned about us.

If you want to talk about journalists trespassing where they really didn't belong, I refer you to Geraldo Rivera's unannounced walk-in at the Willowbrook mental institution in New York in the early 70s. Made his rep, which he later rightfully lost, but it was balls-y as hell and had a great positive impact on mental health treatment in this country, even if Reagan used it to ramp up US homelessness later on.

I was, of all places, at Bonnaroo back in the 20-aughts and struck up a conversation with a couple of South Asian econ grad students (while waiting to see Lewis Black). They were amazed that the tenets of Marxist economic theory isn't even taught to economics students in the United States.
