Go ahead and address the rest of the post, if you are confident in your opinion:
"It's a principle of consistency; every case should be judged similarly. Our legal system is based on precedent; will you say that too is invalid? That 'laws' apply differently to various actors?"
Our entire legal system runs on the whatabout principle
It's called precedent and it works like this: Lawyer says "Judge this situation was addressed in [cites case] and my client did the same thing, so whataboutism means that my client has the same argument as whoever, and furthermore your honor, whataboutism is fair and equal treatment under da law"
-Using the buzzword of the day to preclude opinion is disingenuous and an affront to logic.
