I'd proffer that these occurrences may happen when a TV reality star, with no apparent experience in transportation, is named as the Sec of Transportation for the Country.

Sean Duffy
en.wikipedia.org

... Sean Patrick Duffy (born October 3, 1971) is an American politician, lawyer, former prosecutor, and former television personality who has served as the 20th United States secretary of transportation since 2025. A member of the Republican Party, he served as the U.S. representative for Wisconsin's 7th congressional district from 2011 to 2019.

After graduating from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota and William Mitchell College of Law, Duffy first gained fame as a cast member on The Real World: Boston, Road Rules: All Stars and Real World/Road Rules Challenge: Battle of the Seasons, before going on to serve as district attorney of Ashland County, Wisconsin, from 2002 to 2010, and as congressman from Wisconsin from 2011 to 2019. After resigning from Congress, he became a lobbyist and a Fox Business television co-host.

On November 18, 2024, President-elect Donald Trump named Duffy to be his nominee for U.S. Secretary of Transportation in his second presidency. He was confirmed by the United States Senate to the office on January 28, 2025 by a vote of 77"22 and was sworn in later that day.[1] ...

So, I guess Pres Trump seems to think that participating in MTV's "Road Rules" show is the experience he desires in the Sec of Transportation for the United States?

"confirmed by the United States Senate to the office on January 28, 2025 by a vote of 77-22"

Democrats suck.

Definitely the lesser evil!

@#3 ... Democrats suck. ...

Yeah, I was surprised as well about the support he got from the Democrats.

Their support seemed to be more of, well, he's not done anything that detracts, instead of, what does he have to qualify?

OK, the two Senators for my state voted "nay" so I'm not gonna need to send emails to their offices.

One sure sign of the apocalypse, at least in terms of civilizations crumbling, is when there emerges a tiny upper caste that takes it all, owns it all, and demands obsequious obedience..
And, of course, the people get sicker, and their tools...planes and cars and factories, crumble under the weigh of foreign competition.

President Plane Crash is up to 151 aviation deaths in 2025. Very impressive.

#12: Hi Hugh Mass: Jared Diamond wrote about the collapse of the Mayas:

A Man-Made Environmental Disaster

In his book Collapse, historian and author Jared Diamond argued that the Maya were ultimately victims of their own environmental mismanagement, a warning that feels particularly relevant today.

To fuel the construction of their massive monuments, the Maya cut down hundreds of thousands of trees. In fact, just one meter of building material required the burning of around 20 trees.

According to recent computer simulations, this deforestation had a devastating impact on the environment. Without tree cover, the land absorbed more solar radiation, reducing the ability of water to evaporate. This not only raised temperatures, but also led to less rainfall over the course of a century.

The cascading effects were severe:

Failed crops

Widespread famine

Collapse of trade routes

Mass migration in search of food

All of this was made worse by internal conflict, disease, and social unrest.
