The University of Pennsylvania will block transgender athletes from female sports teams and erase the records set by swimmer Lia Thomas as part of an agreement with the federal government, the Department of Education said. The agreement comes as part of the Trump administration's broader restrictions on transgender people, as it steps up its efforts to ban transgender athletes from competing in women's sports nationwide and serving in the military. read more
Newsom doesn't want to fund California's new tough-on-crime law. Who should? Supporters of Prop. 36 wanted at least $250 million. The governor gave them nothing. California voters overwhelmingly approved a tough-on-crime ballot measure in the November election, but it still lacks hundreds of millions of dollars in funding as state legislators and Gov. Gavin Newsom battle over how to finance the new law. read more
After a rise in cases throughout the last year, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health is declaring an outbreak of hepatitis A. According to public health, hepatitis A cases tripled from 2023 to 2024, with 165 cases reported in the county last year. As many as 29 have been reported in 2025 so far. Hepatitis A is found in the stool of infected persons and is transmitted through the fecal-oral route. It can be spread through close person-to-person contact and through contaminated food or drink, public health warns. read more
Good thing no one said "if you gut NWS indiscriminately, without caution and study, then there will be actual people, maybe lots of people, who will die."
They didn't gut forecasters .... thanks for playing.
Weather service had extra staffers
The National Weather Service office in New Braunfels, which delivers forecasts for Austin, San Antonio and the surrounding areas, had extra staff on duty during the storms, Runyen said.
Where the office would typically have two forecasters on duty during clear weather, they had up to five on staff.
"There were extra people in here that night, and that's typical in every weather service office " you staff up for an event and bring people in on overtime and hold people over," Runyen said.

After deadly Texas floods, calls rise for better warnings
How about not permitting people to build cabins in a flood zone (Camp Mystic).
In San Diego there are flood zones where you can't build domiciles. So the rich build golf courses, and horse ranches.

I noted and cited the times. And I also note the lack of an answer to a direct question I asked. So lame.
Its not a direct question, the answer is in the post, you're just to stupid to read and understand it. You can't understand the post that's because you're an idiot.

What are you talking about?
Both warnings posted by NWS were clear cut and bold about this being life threatening, and location, even mentioning "campers" and "Kerrville". The flash flood emergency issued at 5:34 am on July 4th. "AUTOMATED RAIN GAUGES A LARGE AND DEADLY WAVE IS MOVING DOWN THE GUADALUPE RIVER". The first warning was issued at 1:14 am. There were already 5 warnings/advisories issued by NWS by 2 am. Kerr County and the surrounding regions were put under a flood watch on July 3rd. I don't feel natural disaster needs blamed on anyone, but as someone who watched these warnings being issued. The NWS couldn't have done better in this one.

It doesn't take much to know when a flood warning needs to be issued via all media.
