Many vehicles survive a timing belt break without a bent valve.

If it didn't, it's probably German.

Setting on fire a vehicle that's not going to sell just creates an insurance claim, instead of lost value to the company. Does them a favor.

It's much worse.

That Aztek was only 8% more sales short of breaking even. They sold almost 28k a year, they needed 30k to break even, they projected they would sell 75k annual.

Cybertruck deliveries were just under 39k for 2024, with a goal of 250k annual, they need to sell at least 75k of them to break even with a $15k-$20k gross margin. Some estimates have put it at 200k annual required to break even.
