Interesting how many 'unusual' diseases have been cropping up in the USA in recent years - no doubt to no medical 'vetting' of all the illegal aliens being allowed into our country under this dem administration. Hopefully none of you, or your loved ones, contract one or more of these diseases.

Are you actually so stupid you think diseases care about immigration status?

It's really sad to hear you saying the same things the Nazis said about immigrants.

You betrayed your uniform.

Yeah, go with that.

While you seem to ignore the apparent real cause, increasing heat and humidity in the US.

So, as more people get sick, continue to ascribe the cause to politics, instead of medical reasons.

That's why so many Republicans died from COVID.

For the record, I do not revel in anyone person dying from a sickness, regardless of that person's political leaning.

Armageddon - Silver Tightrope (1975)

Lyrics excerpt...

genius.com

...
I close my eyes to worldly skies
I leave behind the day
And deep within me, I shall begin
To chase my thoughts away
As loved ones hold me to their sides
Their strength flows into me
To cast me out of sorrow's blindness
Into eternity

I thought I heard them softly calling
The voices of the spheres
As light years flash forever falling
Away from waking fears
I reach out, try to touch the passing
Of beings bathed in light
But they just smile, their eyes not asking
To see beyond their sight

Lyrics excerpt...

...
Sitting on the door stoop
Watching multi bizarre people pass me by
Look through the windows, through the houses
Oh, they're made of sky

Gargoyle watching the bouncing ball
Strangers mystified by all
All the goings on
Sufficiently breathless
Sufficiently breathless

Hey, Mr. Policeman, can you point the way
Oh, with your handgun?
Peter the puppy and the space below
Don't you understand 'em?

Yeah, but I'd categorize it more as "frightening" than "interesting."

From what I've read, dengue fever seems to ~enjoy~ the hotter, more humid climates, hence Pueto Rico, as mentioned in the article.

But how long before the hot, humid weather of our southern states provides a breeding ground for that illness?

I agree.

Mosquitos are a non-political blood-sucker.

And the attempts of some to try to politicize this medical issue (#11) do not help to resolve the problem we face.

I can't speak for other southern cities, but Miami and Ft. Lauderdale put out plenty of warnings about standing water during mosquito season. The cities also send out a brigade of trucks to scour out and spray every possible larva hatching area they can find. They'll even come directly to your home if you think you have a problem.

I think they might also do arial spraying in the Evergaldes close to private property. And yes, people do insist upon living on the edge of python territory.

It's more about the mosquito hosts who spread it. Viruses could give a ---- about anything else other than where their hosts can thrive.

LOL you idiot.

Dengue doesn't have a current vaccine available. They've tried, but one of the nasty characteristics of Dengue (it's actually the canonical example...) is antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE), where previous immunity makes the secondary infection worse because the existing antibody increases infectivity of the virus.

But sure, tell us all how vaccination status is the issue here...

LOL also weren't you an anti-vaxx moron for COVID?

Back when I was a kid living in NYC, the city used to send out spray trucks around dusk on summer evenings.

In case anyone is interested in more information about which mosquitos carry the most common mosquito-borne diseases:

The most prominent mosquito-borne diseases are transmitted by three genera of mosquitoes " Aedes, Culex, and Anopheles.

#20 | Posted by Whatsleft at 2024-06-27 02:40 PM

Those Aedes mosquitoes are in Southern California now, and they are much harder to swat then the normal Egyptii mosquitoes we're used to.

They don't land and fill up, they do touch and gos. And they're so tiny it's kinda hard to see them.

So, enjoy your Zika virus!

Yeah. It's Biden's fault!

It couldn't possibly be due to the unexpectedly consequences of global warming which is expanding the range where these mosquitoes that carry the virus can breed longer.
