Starmer: OK for Ukraine to Hit Russia with Storm Shadows

Keir Starmer has told the Ukrainian president that British missiles can be used for defensive strikes against targets inside Russia.

Thereby, at least in theory, removing Russian assets within the missiles' range from the "sorry, occupying a privileged sanctuary" list and giving them something else to factor into their planning.

We'll see how Putin likes a taste of his own medicine ...

Probably not at all.

Ukraine has been hitting a lot of big targets inside Russia recently. They are starting to use their homemade drones almost daily to take out military and infrastructure (oil in particular) far inside Russia. The first few attacks were sporadic but it is clear they are making progress on their production. The best part is Russian air defense is not able to handle them.

Putin needs to call it quits before Ukraine gets to ability to hit any target on any shore of the black sea.

Personally, I would think that attacking the headquarters of the invading army woould be defensive. A direct hit on the Kremlin killing a few Generals would cause some to question the leadership of the Psycho in Chief! His death would be a wonderful gift to the world including the Russian people. And Ukraine should chase every last Russian out of all paarts of their counyty including Crimea.
Remember when all Republicans would agree with that?

"Putin needs to call it quits before Ukraine gets to ability to hit any target on any shore of the black sea."

Putin can't afford to quit. That would make him a loser, by Russia's reckoning and his days as their leader would be numbered. Probably by a military coup with the support of the public.

Putin would be lucky to get house arrest and declared a non-person for the rest of his life. Similar to how Khrushchev was treated after Russian ships were forced to turn back during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Khrushchev lasted about two more years but was eventually fired by the Kremlin. Khrushchev was out of the country at the time and didn't see it coming.

There's no guarantee that Mr. Putin would be treated so nicely. He could just as easily be imprisoned or killed.

They sound like Klingons Man.

Spooky.

At any time Putin can declare Ukraine has been pacified and no longer poses a threat to Russia.

He can further declare any who oppose this will be jailed.

How long until Russia learns to counter all NATO weapons? Making these systems obsolete. That day gets closer the more the Russians fight them in actual combat. Most of the big "game changer" weapons systems are now obsolete because Russia is adapting. This gives them an advantage in war with NATO itself.

Unintended Consequences.

Putin already knows his goose is cooked if he retreats. He also knows the consequences for himself. He'll do everything he can to prevent a Kremlin coalition against him.

Why do you think Mr. Putin is already casting blame on the Army? (that means the Generals)

Why do you think Mr. Putin is "cleaning out" (to use his words) the Ministry of Defense who would be his executioners?

Putin could even possibly keep the regions he's kept since 2014 but this won't happen so long as children's hospitals are being hit with Russians missiles.

How long until Russia learns to counter all NATO weapons?

About the same amount of time it will take for NATO to make better weapons.

Stupid Russians think NATO is going to shoot at targets they can see from the border when they can land a warhead free missile on red square with a note telling Putin to surrender before the rest arrive.

The Storm Shadows Ukraine is receiving are 30 years old. Think of what cell phone tech was 30 years ago. I think the west is OK with Russia countering 30 year old tech
