Immigration Surge Lifts U.S. Economy

Kamala Harris had no sooner replaced Joe Biden as the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee than Donald Trump began bashing her over the number of immigrants coming into the United States, declaring that they had driven countless American workers from their jobs. But the data on U.S. employment and the economy overwhelmingly suggest a reality far more beneficial when it comes to immigration than the nightmarish vision the former president has put forth. The surge of international migrants since 2021 " including refugees, asylum seekers and others entering legally and illegally " has lifted the U.S. and California economies by filling otherwise vacant jobs, helping to keep job creation strong, growing businesses and pumping millions of tax dollars into state, local and federal coffers.

Every study I've ever seen ALWAYS shows that immigration is a net positive to the economy. It's only a net negative to the white supremacists who would prefer their parents not to have caretakers, nurses, and doctors in order to avoid the eventual browning of America. The studies also show that immigrants both legal and illegal are involved fewer violent crimes than native born Americans.

If someone from a different country has come legally to America and they were able to secure employment, then Americans weren't trying to get that position.

Immigrants aren't jobs from Americans. They're taking jobs Americans don't want.

There's a big difference.

Xenophobia is powerful motivation for republicans to vote.

They feel entitled to living an easy life and blame others for their failure to do so.

Republicans would rather grow our population through forced birth and public shaming rather than let immigrants into the country who are ready to work, eager to be Americans and raise their kids.

The irrational fear spread by the GQP of immigrants is based in the plain out racism in the party.

I am still waiting for one of these magats to prove that an immigrant stole his job picking lettuce or tomatoes.

What the attacks on immigrants does is cause jobs that they need to fill go unfilled.

Look no further than desanturd's crack down on migrants who had out of state drivers licenses. Suddenly truckers and construction workers were in short supply in FL as they headed to less racist states to do the same work without the hassle of having to apply for another drivers license.

Immigration has long been a net gain for the US economy, and immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than the avg US citizen.

And we have a worker shortage AND a low birth rate.

All good reasons to denigrate them if you are a Trumper and Hate America.

I went and picked up 3 Mexicans (I think, they all look alike) from Home Depot yesterday. Got my painting done in no time.

The jobs report is out for July. Another thread that did not age well.

Lumper seem to live in fantasy land.

I am privileged enough to know I, an F-1 turned into green card status, am taking jobs from qualified American citizens, simply because I am cheaper.

How can Lumpers think lower waged immigrants don't do the same? Insane.

How is it possible that you don't know that Americans already know this?

Is it because you yourself are insane?

If you wish to compete to be a bean picker have at it bro.

Though I cannot imagine how you can afford an F250 as a bean picker. Unless you are selling drugs on the side. Good luck with breaking bad.

I have never felt the need to compete for a lower wage job with immigrants. Because I have always had a competitive highly skilled ability to market.

Stay in school kids. And you won't have to compete with OneNut who is so much "cheaper" than you.
