Good bet whoever thought up that stunt has been fired by now. Total fail.

News is really taking on that feel of desperation with so few days to go.

Over on 538, despite Harris being favored until early voting started...

Trump wins 53 times out of 100
in our simulations of the 2024 presidential election.
Harris wins 47 times out of 100.

"Worked"?

It was closed the entire day. The "customers" were also fake with one vehicle lined up for almost an hour several feet before the window so they could get the campaign shot.

More from the cited article...

...Trump, a big fan of McDonald's food and a self-professed germophobe, wore an apron over his shirt and tie but did not wear gloves or a hairnet during his visit, stating that his hands were "nice and clean." According to the Meidas Touch, he went straight to work without washing his hands.

Employees not washing their hands was one of the reasons that restaurant failed its most recent inspection. ...

Seth Abramson, a journalist and lawyer, wrote on X: "Perhaps no stunt in the history of U.S. politics deserves more ridicule than the grotesquely embarrassing mummery Trump put on at a Pennsylvania McDonald's today ... The McDonald's was closed, the customers were fake, Trump did nothing."

@#6 ... The McDonald's was closed ...

The workers at that McDonald's lost wages for this stunt?

Except, ironically, calling the media "fake news"

"News is really taking on that feel of desperation with so few days to go."

What passes for "news" these days is really pathetic, regardless of whether or not it's election related. Most of it is just filler clickbait now.

AOC makes a good point about 1 min in.... Trump at McDonalds and Musk handing out millions to potential voters is the Oligarchy (my word, not hers)... making fun of working people.

www.youtube.com

#16 | Posted by Corky at 2024-10-21 04:57 PM

AOC called him out for it:

"that man's never punched a clock in his life
he's never wiped down a table in his life
he's never had to fix his own car he's
never struggled to make ends meet he
does not know what it means to check
your paycheck every week and see what
you got left he doesn't know the first
thing about about
that

and so when we see people doing
things like that... we see Elon Musk coming
in here I mean we got to talk about what
this guy's doing right

he's doing these
little I don't know these little
contests where he's promising people a
million dollars you know in some kind of
Lottery giveaway if they sign up for his
list

and I want us to put together what
those two things are like when you have
a billionaire just
dangling a million bucks to those of us
and many of us who are struggling to
make ends meet if they dance for
him

if you've got Donald Trump putting
on a little McDonald's
costume because he thinks that's what
people do

they're not trying to empathize with
us they are making fun of
us

they are making fun of us Donald
Trump thinks that people who work at
McDonald's are a joke

Elon Musk thinks
that dangling money in front of a
working person is a cute thing to do
when the election of Our Lives is before
us because that's what people and
billionaires like that do"

Looked like there was a full staff there. They might have done it for free, but I doubt it.

You mean Trump really didn't get hired, and work there for min wage? Shocker. Are you stupid.

Unfortunately it seems American workers are kind of dirty people.

Between the reports issues in 2000, 2004, and 2009, the average handwashing out-of-compliance rates across all segments in the industry was 46.8%, meaning that almost half of the employees were not observed washing their hands correctly or when they were required to

I doubt its gotten better.

"McDonald's workers roast Trump over insulting cosplay' stunt at restaurant that failed health inspection

Trump sported neither gloves not a hair net as he worked at a branch of the fast food chain in Pennsylvania

Donald Trump's obsession with questioning Kamala Harris' work experience at McDonald's peaked over the weekend when he worked the fry cooker at a Pennsylvania branch " without a hairnet or gloves.

McDonald's workers have now given their verdict on the former president's performance - and came away less than impressed.

Trump has baselessly called his Democratic opponent's summer stint at a McDonald's "a lie," so he decided to try his hand at the fast-food chain himself, shutting down a Bucks County restaurant to do so.

While serving food through the drive-thru window and working the fry cooker, some have pointed out that he wasn't taking proper precautions " at a location that has previously been cited for health code violations."

@#19

From the link cited...

... The restaurant closed down for 30 minutes while Trump played dress up. It's unclear if the branch's workers were paid during that interim. ...

Given the prior reported health inspection history of that particular McDonald's, and that fmr Pres Trump's campaign chose this franchise to visit, my guess would be that the franchise is locally owned and operated by a Trump cult member.

As such, given fmr Pres Trump's propensity for not paying workers, I'd also guess that there is a chance the workers were not paid while fmr Pres Trump played ...

In a message to employees obtained by The Washington Post, the fast-food giant made clear that it isn't saying what Trump says it's saying."

Yes, the stop for Doritos and corn nuts was so much more believable.

Libs are playing right into trump's hands.

His one skill is manipulating morons.

He did this so libs will attack mcdonalds and make fun of the whole thing.

Undecided morons go "Hey I like mcdonalds! Those libs are making fun of me!" and vote for the russian puppet who attempted a coup

#30 | Posted by SpeakSoftly at 2024-10-21 11:39 PM

@#30 ... He did this so libs will attack mcdonalds ...

Has McDonald's been attacked?

This stunt seems to be the effort of a McDonald's franchisee, not McDonald's the corporation.

While I do admit, there my be ~conversations~ between the McDonald's franchising team and this particular franchise, I do not see how that would be an attack on McDonald's, the corporation.

Please explain.

thx.

Just saw a video of the Doritos thing, one thought to share I saw no one talk about
www.reddit.com

... Tim Walz went to get the bigger bag of Doritos, not the small size.

Every Midwesterner knows, you always get the bigger bags for road trips so you can share!

How is that controversial in any way? ...

From what I've seen this was a smart campaign move.

Of course our garbage media have to go after the little guy (this restaurant and its employees) because it's what they do.

#37 | Posted by BellRinger at 2024-10-22 11:42 AM

This was such a nonsense cosplay (without the costume) stunt.
All it did was show the world how utterly vain and clueless about this industry, food safety, and the real worldTrump is.
All because he wants to lie about Harris working at a McDonalds.
Seriously?
God I have such little hope for this country.

#38 | Posted by YAV at 2024-10-22 11:58 AM

"From what I've seen this was a smart campaign move."

Not surprised at all that you would fall for a staged Trumpy stunt with paid actors.

"Of course our garbage media have to go after the little guy (this restaurant and its employees) because it's what they do."

They were compensated for their time. It's their own fault if they didn't demand enough compensation to cover the resulting backlash.

Because ... it's already well known ...

Everything Trumpy touches dies.

Which is the opposite of what Harris did when she actually worked at McDonalds.
How sad is this "campaigning"?
