In the year and a half following the Supreme Court Dobbs decision that revoked the federal right to an abortion, hundreds more infants died than expected in the United States, new research shows. The vast majority of those infants had congenital anomalies, or birth defects.

To once again reiterate what has happened since Dobbs:

1. the rate of abortions has increased
2. the effort and cost to obtain an abortion has increased
3. the danger to women from pregnancy has increased
4. the rate of born children has decreased
5. the number of women choosing permanent contraception (i.e. tubal ligation) has increased
6. the number of newborns dying has increased.

I am not sure how the increase in infant deaths could be considered unexpected though.

Women are frightened of seeking medical care because the MAGA boogeyman is real.

Once again we see how right wingers care more about the abstract unborn than they do about the people who are actually among us.
