My dream for an October surprise: Putin dumps some delicious kompromat on Trump in the second half of the month, as Trump is no longer a worthwhile-enough useful idiot.

If Putin's desire all along (and I've been reading this in academic journals since the mid-2000s) has been to sow distrust in democracy, 2016 and 2020 have delivered beyond his wildest dreams. If he can pull the rug out from the cult -- if that's possible -- in the election's waning days, that could be more discord-sowing than Harris roach-stomping Trump at the polls.
