Trump Lags with Early Voting Seniors in PA, a GOP Red Flag

Donald Trump is lagging Kamala Harris in Pennsylvania early voting with a critical and once-reliably Republican constituency: seniors. It's a warning sign for the former president that reflects early vote data and polling across the battlegrounds, after Republicans won the senior vote in each of the last five presidential elections. The data is in line with polling in the state that has shown Trump shedding support among older voters.

According to a Fox News poll of Pennsylvania, Trump is running 5 percentage points behind Harris among voters ages 65 and over, slipping back from the previous month, when he and Harris were tied with that demographic. It's a major shift from 2020, when Trump carried 53 percent of the senior vote in Pennsylvania in a losing effort in the state.

Nationally, a recent ABC News poll found Harris leads among voters over 65 by 5 percentage points - a 10-point swing towards Democrats from 2020, when Trump won voters over 65 by 5 points.

The senior vote is particularly important in five of the seven battleground states - Pennsylvania, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina - that, according to U.S. Census data, have more residents over the age of 65 than the national average.

According to modeling data shared by a Democratic campaign operative tracking early voting, across the Blue Wall states, Democratic voters over the age of 65 are running 10 to 20 percent ahead of their Republican counterparts with respect to registered turnout.

And the same Democratic modeling shows Black voters over the age of 65 - and in particular older Black women, a core Democratic bloc - are returning ballots at a higher rate than any other demographic group.

There is some good news for Trump coming from early voting metrics: Black voting in North Carolina is lagging 2020 and the overall electorate is skewing older and whiter.

But there may also be some silver lining for Harris, even in those metrics: Early voter data also shows women and suburban voters are overperforming so far and voters under 40, who had initially lagged in early voting compared to their registration numbers, are also improving their performance in recent days.

I don't believe it.

They will lie right to everyone's face and then head out to receive communion at mass.

VOTE LIKE KAMALA IS DOWN 30 POINTS. Don't relax. Don't get complacent.

The turn out gap in Penn is real right now. Women votes are outpacing men by about 10 points.

Trump went after the low turn out Bros who watch Barstool and Rogan and is praying they show up on election day. Historically they don't even in recent elections.

This is the problem for polling: guessing they are reaching the right people to represent the country and really guessing who is going to show up to vote.

The complete lack of Trump ground game may cost him the election.

No one should think that this election is in the bag for Kamala. All voters are needed--show up, stand up and vote. Everywhere. Freedom loving Americans can take no solace from winning the popular vote and losing the Electoral College. The wife and I waited 3.5 hours in line to vote this week in OKC. Even in this state, it was time well worth it...

Per available data, a significant percentage of GOP registered voters in swing states have crossed the aisle to vote for VP Harris.

I doubt that there's a single person on this blog who would be dissuaded from voting because of positive trend news, especially those living in swing states. There is a HUGE reason stories of Harris momentum MUST BE WRITTEN because Trump's whole "rigged election" message is based on the public believing that trends are in his favor for re-election, giving him credibility for doing exactly what he did in 2020 - dispute the results if/when he indeed loses.

And second, almost every Harris supporter that I know has also bought into the always looming reality that Trump could win based on the plethora of largely GOP polls, all showing him ahead. So again, anti-Trump voting trends are news that should be widely broadcast, but doing so in no way should be interpreted as a reason for Harris supporters to become overconfident.

Everyone understands that this race isn't over until every last vote has been cast and all of them have been tallied.

One last piece of breaking election news is that Pennsylvania is also seeing a marked rise in first time women voters, far outpacing men.

Happy Roevember everybody, and if you haven't yet, VOTE.

I got an email I'm in the 1%, "6 time supporter" category of donors for her.

My wife and I voted early. I'm still going to walk to my polling place and shoot some facts to Trump and Marsha Blackburn supporters there trying to get votes for those two, and tell them I couldn't possibly vote for Republicans, especially in light of how they've been taken over by crazies who do nothing but pass tax cuts and cause chaos.

I had a friend I did that with for years as he sat under a canopy shilling for one Tea Party then Trumper after another. But when the pandemic hit, he was on FB yelling "I'm not wearing a G.. D... mask! The government can't tell me what to do!" etc. He died in an ICU of COVID and left his wife to raise their young son.

I would give a damn if trumpers stupidity only affected themselves. I wish we could allow the freedom to destroy yourself like that. But when it is a situation that affects everyone else - like supporting a fascist coup, denying climate change, or refusing public safety measures - they are officially threats to the nation and the world.
