Is this a Federal case? If so, I wonder if Mr Giuliani is reaching out to Pres-elect Trump for a pardon on The First Day?

@#3

Many thanks for that reference.

It indicates to me that the President can issue a pardon for Federal crimes, but not civil or State crimes.

So I guess I should have asked if this particular crime is a civil crime? :)

fwiw, one thing I found in my attempt to see if this is a civil case is this...

www.newsweek.com (December 2023)

... Giuliani vowed to file an appeal and told reporters, "I don't regret a damn thing" after leaving the courthouse. ...

Also found this ...

Giuliani concedes he made public comments falsely claiming Georgia election workers committed fraud (July 2023)
apnews.com

Still haven't found if was a civil or criminal case yet ...

Aahh ... finally ...

Jury in Federal Court Awards Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss $148,169,000 in Damages (December 2023)

And from a link in that article...

Congrats, you figured it out.

Bookmark that site. It's a gold star reference for all things Constitution, though it can be a bit dated sometimes.

I find Cornell's version friendlier. www.law.cornell.edu

Curious thing about the pardon power in light of the SC's recent immunity decision. Pardon is an enumerated Article II power thus is a core power that carries absolute immunity. Period. End of sentence.

A president could openly offer pardons to the highest bidder or could offer a prospective pardon to the assassin of an opposition politician and only Congress can do a d**n thing about it through impeachment. Period. End of sentence.

They'd take the money box as well.

Years of lies, lawsuits and humiliations. Disbarred and out $150 million.

For what? The 2020 election wasn't overturned and Trump was reelected president anyway.

Giuliana is genius! A mastermind!

Rudy could play Gollum in the re-make of "The Hobbit" with his World Series ring as his "Precious". Were he still a member of the Bar, he might be worried about honking off a federal judge. I'll wager Rudy's memory will get much better with a day or two in MDC Brooklyn...
