Chiefs Advance, Commanders Face the Lions

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Houston Texans 23-14 in a game that featured eight sacks by the reigning champs of C.J. Stroud and Travis Kelce catching seven passes for 117 yards and a touchdown. Patrick Mahomes delivered playoff magic and one of the worst dives outside of soccer. The night's second playoff game pits Jayden Daniels and the visiting Washington Commanders against the top-ranked Detroit Lions.

Comments

People picking the Texans are counting on the Chiefs being rusty. The Chiefs have too many old pros still in great form to let that stop them. They're so good that early adversity will self-motivate them.

From your lips to God's ears. Plus the Chiefs are accustomed to playing in cold weather.

I want the Chiefs to lose. But I wouldn't be stupid enough to bet that way.

I still remember when the Chiefs fans were booing during that "moment of unity" back in 2020.

Such classy fans. /s

I can't root for the Texans. They all defended the vicious hit by Azeez Al-Shaair on Trevor Lawrence -- including their head coach. It was a blatantly illegal blow to the head at the end of a quarterback slide.

Refs in the bag for the chiefs.

To a ridiculous degree

Oh STFU. You just don't appreciate greatness that's all.

Love seeing Worthy playing in the NFL after watching his college career.

And Mahomes can do something special anytime. But Stroud is the future, he can wait this once.

So are you rooting for the Chiefs to lose?? Just trying to clarify.

#8 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-01-18 05:14 PM

I like both teams, but I'd like to see Patrick set some new records.

Stroud is going to get his.

That's supposed to mean what exactly??

#11 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-01-18 05:41 PM

Stroud is going to get his.

Stroud had a sophomore slump. I wouldn't bet too hard on him being someone who will get his playoff glory someday. Still unproven.

I AM rooting for the Texans now. Two bogus roughing the passer calls and Mahomes trying to cheat to get a third by taking a soccer dive on the sidelines.

Can't disagree with that

HAHAHAHA Bubye Texans.

#16 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-01-18 07:21 PM

300 Wins for Andy Reid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

#17 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-01-18 07:25 PM

The roughing the passer calls were gross, but they didn't decide the game. The blame for that deserves to go to the Texans offensive line for giving up eight sacks and the Texans coaches who let Travis Kelce frolic in the secondary all game long.

#18 | Posted by rcade at 2025-01-18 08:00 PM

Comeon Commanders. Beat the Lions.

#19 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-01-18 08:04 PM

The roughing calls were bad but the Texans lost due to terrible special teams play. First kick 63 yard return ended with unsportsmanlike. Then missed 2. FG's and a PAT.

This game is wild.

#21 | Posted by rcade at 2025-01-18 09:32 PM

Did you see that catch????!!!????!!! WOWSERS

#22 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-01-18 09:34 PM

Why wasn't that an illegal forward pass??

It was a halfback pass. The pitch to Montgomery was a lateral which made him still an eligible passer.

#24 | Posted by BellRinger at 2025-01-18 10:27 PM

Ahhhhhhh gotcha

#25 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-01-18 10:30 PM

DAMNNNNN What happened to the Lions?? Not that I'm complaining or anything.

#26 | Posted by LauraMohr at 2025-01-18 10:54 PM

What happened to the Lions? WAY too many crucial mistakes including 4 turnovers.

#27 | Posted by BellRinger at 2025-01-18 11:04 PM

To a ridiculous degree

exactly right.....I'm looking at clips now....one of the roughing the passer calls the 2 texans NEVER touched mahommes........they hit each

other.....as he slid beneath them....

the other roughing the passer was almost as bad.....

--and then there is the "flop" or attempted flop......I was really surprised they didn't flag the texan players for UR.
