This is the result of stupid clueless anti common sense European leftists who want wind turbines and EVs but no fossil fuel technical planning and evaluation.

THANK GOD we elected Trump instead of the stupid leftist tribe aka known for years as Democrat fooldom.

Keep these Democrat lying fools from the halls of power as if your life and family depend on it, because they do.

You know if you could answer my question honestly it would explain a lot.

Oh, I figured something happened to the sugar plantations.

no fossil fuel technical planning and evaluation.

75% of Spain's power comes from natural gas and nuclear.

"massive, unexplained power outage"

But ROBSON explained it----

Damned wind turbines.

Must have all stopped turning at once.

you sure, they were destroying Nukes like crazy last 3 years.

Spain generated 148,999 GWh of renewable energy in 2024, accounting for 56.8% of total electricity production, according to grid operator Red Elctrica de Espaa (REE).

Growth in installed renewable capacity and favorable weather conditions drove a 35.5% increase in hydropower output compared to 2023, while solar PV generation rose 18.9%, setting a record for the sixth consecutive year.

Six days ago, the media celebrated a significant milestone: Spain's national grid operated entirely on renewable energy for the first time during a weekday. At 12:35 pm today local time, the lights went out across Spain and Portugal, and parts of France. Although power was quickly restored in France, it could take a week to fully restore power in Spain and Portugal.

The issue as I understand it is the Freq of the AC lines dropped to an unacceptable level, almost knocked out all of Europe.

Before the outage hit, Spain was running its grid with very little dispatchable spinning generation, and therefore no much inertia.

Solar PV/thermal + wind: ~78%
Nuclear: 11.5%
Co-generation: 5%
Gas-fired: ~3% (less than 1GW)

Snapshot at 12.30pm local time (outage was 12.35pm)
