GOP Rep Torched after Hospital in his District Shuts Down

A rural clinic in Nebraska is shutting its doors after more than 30 years due to mounting financial pressures and looming federal funding cuts tied to Medicaid, ABC affiliate KLKN reported Wednesday.

More

Community Hospital has announced the difficult decision to close Curtis Medical Center, located in Curtis, Nebraska. An exact date for the closure is yet to be determined. Inflation over the past few years combined with the current uncertainty of future federal funding has led to this decision.

I had not expected to see this type of story until another year or so.

The headline of the cited article ...

... 'Betrayed': GOP rep torched after hospital in his district shuts down due to Medicaid cuts ...

Wow, the use of the word, "betrayed" is significant, imo.

The Curtis Medical Center in Curtis, NE is in Frontier county.

Frontier county voted 86% for Trump.

I hope that 14% has the means to leave that s*&^hole and let the majority stew in their own ignorant stupidity.

The only health care GOPers seem to care about is the health care business.
But tax breaks for gazillionaires?
Bring it on!
Such a bunch of swine.

EVERY hospital north of my mid-sized Texas city is expected to close now. That's going to be about fifteen counties. Fifteen ruby red counties.

FAFO.

these people are as stupid/ illiterate / uninformed and dishonest as "you people" are.

--the bill includes 10 billion for ten years to
rural hospitals ..that's 50 billion for you stupid mthr fkers.
--the original number was 25 billion but was raised because of REPUBLICANS CONCERN for rural hospitals

google it as / wholes....I F/G DARE YOU !!!

My local MAGA Congressman for the last decade has gone on and on about what a fierce advocate he is for rural health services.

But he enthusiastically supported a bill that will leave just two hospitals in an area the size of Indiana.

Both of those hospitals are in the same city.

I would state the obvious: that many of his constituents, especially the elderly, are going to die on an accelerated basis.

But I am not at all sure that any individual MAGA ever really expects to die. I think that they believe that death is something that happens to Democrats.

10 billion for 5 years.

Is it OK if we just pay attention to the reality around us?

No offense to Google or AI.

#8 | Posted by Zed at 2025-07-04 09:51 AM

Then there is the looming mass extinction of nursing homes.

FAFO.

10 billion for 5 years.

#7 | Posted by shrimptacodan

Let's accept that at literal face value.

What's wrong with assuring that rural hospitals are safe for a generation?

What's the argument against it? You hate small towns?

#10 | Posted by Zed at 2025-07-04 09:55 AM

Given that I live where this is happening, and have already seen rural hospitals close...

I need to tell you that many small Texas towns and entire rural counties have just been holding on by the skins of their teeth for decades.

You people took away their labor and now you're taking away their infrastructure.

You're setting up an internal migration of Americans who have lost their personal futures.

Migrants.

Funny when you think about it.

#11 | Posted by Zed at 2025-07-04 09:59 AM

Not too funny, though.

Because the end result of this is most likely more anger and demagoguery from the people who voted for this.

They literally create the problems that they're angry about and either can't or won't see it.

#12 | Posted by jpw at 2025-07-04 11:09 AM

Because they're ------- idiots.

Once all the people in this are move or die off.

That hospital won't be necessary anymore.

Depopulation is preferable to universal basic income.

Why won't poor people just die already?

Closing hospitals and making life for everyday Americans more difficult is what Republicans voted for!

Huzzah!!!

#16 | Posted by ClownShack at 2025-07-05 05:47 PM

@#16 ... Closing hospitals and making life for everyday Americans more difficult is what Republicans voted for! ...

Gotta make sure the billionaires (grifting Pres Trump included?) get their tax cuts.

#17 | Posted by LampLighter at 2025-07-05 05:55 PM

If people who can't spend all their hoarded wealth in 5 generations can't receive another tax cut, what are we doing as a nation?

#18 | Posted by ClownShack at 2025-07-05 05:57 PM

Rural? Magat scum country.

#19 | Posted by truthhurts at 2025-07-05 06:30 PM

I, for one, do care.

I want Americans to get the healthcare they deserve in such a wealthy Country.

Not healthcare for profit by the wealthy, but healthcare for the health of all Americans.

I have ZERO sympathy for these fucktards.

They were told and told and told

Shitler is obviously what he is.

They hated trans kids, immigrant workers and "woke", so they voted for the corrupt, rapist, conman.

They knew what he would do, he was clear on that.

So, they are getting what they wanted.
