Hegseth's speech to our military leaders

For what it's worth...

Comments

If we're lucky, we get only a bit of the onanism typical of Hegseth and the dictator.

#1 | Posted by Zed at 2025-09-30 08:50 AM

10 directives meant to take the monkey off your backs.
"no more walking on eggs shells policy"
"we are liberating you."
"all standards will be the "gender neutral" male standard" (?)
"adverse information on records will no longer be permanent"
" promotions will be based on one thing: merit"
"PT done by everyone"
"Appearance" will be enforced, no "beardos,"
Apparently he's changed the DOD from "The Woke Department" to "The War Department"
Anyone that benefited from the "Woke" department have been rooted out and fired, and this will continue.
More leadership changes will be made because we must do.

"If what I'm saying today is making your hearts sink, do the honorable thing and resign."
We need you locked into the "M" not the "D" "E" or "I." No more debris. (Hey, I'm only reporting what he's saying...)

Behavior of our Troops online will be monitored and complaining will not be tolerated.

It's going on and on. Lots of "WOKE Department" belittlement of everything from after 1990 to Hegseth. Instilling "healthy fear" through Drill Sergeants will be used to "motivate" is back in. "Every Marine a Rifleman" is now for all branches.

Oddly, lots of "Christianity" referenced, used.

We have to prepare every day for war, not defense. War you do sparingly, clear goals, unleashing everything. We don't fight with stupid ROE. No "politically correct" ROEs. You kill people and break things for a living. You are different.

I'm sure a full transcript will be available as well as analysis. I tried to capture a little bit of the flavor.

A gas passing exercise.

Silences as Hegseth walks off stage.
The Washington Post March plays.
Milling around while standing in place.
Waiting for something else to happen.
Music continues to play. Over and over.
Waiting for Trump to show up.
Government shutdown clock continues to count down on screen.

Camera cuts to Trump answering questions from the Press on his way to the helicopter (moments ago).
Trump spouts lie after lie. Silliness. Trump keeps yammering on and on.
Split screen - our military leaders waiting for Trump to show up.

#4 | Posted by YAV at 2025-09-30 09:07 AM

I won't bother with what Trump says.
He is way too insufferable to deal with.

#5 | Posted by YAV at 2025-09-30 09:08 AM

A day like any other day in Trumplandia, filled with batsheet boolsheet and batsheet braggadocio.

#6 | Posted by Doc_Sarvis at 2025-09-30 09:09 AM

Damn! Generative AI summarizes it already!

During his speech, Hegseth railed against military leaders he claimed were focused on "wokeness" and a "Department of Woke," rather than lethality. He used derogatory terms like "dudes in dresses" and suggested that officers who disagree with his direction should leave the service, a statement that drew immediate outrage.

He criticized military personnel for being overweight, stating it was "tiring to look out at combat formations... and see fat troops" and "completely unacceptable to see fat generals and admirals".

The Secretary also announced new, stricter physical standards, stating that "If women can make it, excellent. If not, it is what it is". Critics noted this contradicts his confirmation hearing testimony where he walked back his previous opposition to women in combat.

Hegseth's dismissal of military regulations was also a target for criticism. He announced new, stricter grooming standards, saying "no more beardos".

It was - odd.

#8 | Posted by YAV at 2025-09-30 09:25 AM

And now...
Trump.

#9 | Posted by YAV at 2025-09-30 09:27 AM

Just listened to Trump ramble on about paper.

What an embarrassment.

#10 | Posted by jpw at 2025-09-30 09:43 AM

Not a single patriot in the room there at Quantico. Shame.

#11 | Posted by qcp at 2025-09-30 09:45 AM

Hegseth obviously doesn't know what to do in his job, so rather than take on anything serious is engaging in a bit of military fantasy.

Any sober, educated man or woman could do better.

Just listened to Trump ramble on about paper.

#10 | POSTED BY JPW

"Rambling" is apt.

After today, there won't be any senior officer in American who doesn't know that there's something terribly wrong with the dictator.

#13 | Posted by Zed at 2025-09-30 09:52 AM

"Biden autopen" except for "his son's pardon. That one he signed."

rambling, muttering, mumbling, whining, and totally insufferable,

Thoughts I would expect a few in attendance are thinking?
I flew half way around the world for THIS?

#14 | Posted by YAV at 2025-09-30 09:53 AM

Just listened to Trump ramble on about paper.

That was... yeah.

#15 | Posted by YAV at 2025-09-30 09:54 AM

Gotta wonder what they all were thinking when their CInC lied about the election being stolen.

#16 | Posted by YAV at 2025-09-30 10:00 AM

Not a single patriot in the room there at Quantico. Shame.

#11 | Posted by qcp

I disagree.

This is so mundane. So insulting stupid.

It has to be bait. Get up and leave, even to go to the bathroom. Speak out. Make a negative face.

You're done. You're out. You're gone.

The most patriotic thing they can do is just take it and ensure some Trump lackey isn't put in their place for justly reacting to this farse.

#17 | Posted by jpw at 2025-09-30 10:09 AM

Now he's talking about using US cities as "training grounds" for the military.

I'm sure the sense of alarm at this brain dead pile of s*&^ saying this stuff is rising rapidly.

#18 | Posted by jpw at 2025-09-30 10:10 AM

We the administration, summon you here to bitch you out for losing wars by not being lethal enough. It's the lack of lethality of the 2000 pound bomb and not wiping entire cities off the map that cause you ------, woke generals to lose. It's definitely not the politics behind it or sending you on missions that can't be won in the first place.

#19 | Posted by sitzkrieg at 2025-09-30 10:13 AM

And now he's saying ICE agents should use lethal force in response to rocks being thrown at cars.

I swear this is bait. They're trying to draw people out into action.

#20 | Posted by jpw at 2025-09-30 10:14 AM

Well, that was sad. On so many fronts.

#21 | Posted by YAV at 2025-09-30 10:14 AM

More "enemy within" nonsense.

A highlight reel of this screed needs to be played on loop from now until the election.

"There does not seem to be a clear point or purpose in President Trump's address to military generals today. It's a garden variety tear;

he's talking about tariffs, Joe Biden and the autopen, the southern border, CNN, his personal feelings about President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia and his anxieties that he won't be given a Nobel Peace Prize he feels he deserves.

These are things he talks about almost every day regardless of audience or setting. Every so often he throws in a statistic or observation he has about the military.

"I think we should maybe start thinking about battleships by the way" he said at one point in the middle of a riff about tariffs.

"I used to watch Victory at Sea. I love Victory at Sea."

Sooooo...trying to start a hot civil war.

The level of animosity that would develop in short order if masked ICE agents started shooting citizens with live ammo...

It would take a matter of months before this country was in complete shambles.

"I used to watch Victory at Sea. I love Victory at Sea."

The waves. They would move across the screen and you sat there. Watching the waves. Move. And the theme song. Really something, like "YMCA". Like, but not better or worse or more or less but just like it's hot in here. The windmills. Did I mention the windmills? Oh, yes, I have nukes. Whoohoo, Makes ya think, huh?

After Trump's semi-comatose speech, I'd say we don't have to worry about loyalty oaths. He's thinking more about the Cinderella ballroom decorations. What a complete waste of money, time and resourses. Just like the rest of Trump's time in office. He's always on brand, which is important to Trump. Image is everything.

"President Trump said Tuesday ahead of a speech to the military's top brass " convened at a highly unusual gathering in Virginia " that he would fire any generals he disliked "on the spot."

Why it matters: Paired with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's speech urging military leaders to embrace the new MAGA military or resign, Trump's comment lays bare his intention of bringing in new generals he views as more aligned with him."

During the unprecedented and surprise meeting of hundreds of admirals and top U.S. military officials in Virginia Tuesday, Defense Department Secretary Pete Hegseth railed against what he characterized as a scourge of "fat troops" and "fat generals and admirals," and announced a series of new physical fitness standards all military members must adhere to going forward.

"If the secretary of War can do regular, hard [physical training], so can every member of our joint force," Hegseth said, speaking at the event in Quantico, a giant American flag behind him.

In case of a major conflict mechanisms will be in place to circumvent MAGA control of the military.

Praetorian Guard killed Julius Ceasar. 44 BC.

Just putting that out there.

An effort that seems to have ramped up of late.

Immaculate Fools - Wish You Were Here (1988)

Lyrics excerpt ...

...
Whenever i think of you
Wherever my inquisitive heart
Wants to lead me to

I will follow no matter how far
I can't leave these thoughts behind me
They catch my every breath
They turn me into someone
That i haven't met yet

Dickies - Killer Klowns (1988)
www.youtube.com

Lyrics excerpt ...

genius.com

...
[Verse 1]
P.T. Barnum said it so long ago
There's one born every minute
Don't you know? (Killer Klowns)
Some make us laugh, some make us cry
These Klowns, honey, gonna make you die

[Chorus]
Everybody's running
When the circus comes into their towns
Everybody's gunning
For the likes of the Killer Klowns from outer space
Killer Klowns from outer space
...

Yeah, that was the theme song from a B-grade movie of the same name.

But it is a fun, though not substantial, movie. One that you do not need to ~experience~ on an iMax screen ...

Jus' sayin'

Caligula was the one killed by the Praetorian Guard in 41 AD.

Caesar was killed by a Cliche of Digruntled Senators.
