President Donald Trump has fired Carla Hayden, the longtime head of the Library of Congress, in a move that Democratic lawmakers panned as "callous" and "ignorant."

I didn't realize the President chooses the Congress's librarian. I would have guessed Congress chooses their librarian.

I mean, she had less than a year left in her 10-year term. Trump could have simply waited, but then he would not have seemed sufficiently mean spirited enough to the MAGA crowd as she was an obvious DEI hire, despite the fact that Dr. Hayden was an actual librarian, unlike most of the people who've held that position in the past.
