Waffle House Drops Its 50-cent Egg Surcharge

Waffle House had a welcome announcement for customers of its round-the-clock breakfast offerings: it has officially taken its egg surcharge off the menu.

More

Waffle House has dropped its 50 cent surcharge on eggs. The chain added the temporary charge in February, when avian flu sent egg prices to record highs.

Yup, eggs are getting less expensive as farmers rebuild their flocks of egg-laying hens after bird-flu struck.

I looked at eggs a couple days ago... the half-dozen I used to buy for $0.99 is still $2.50 or so. So yeah, prices declining, but nowhere near where they had been.

My guess is that it may take the farmers a while to rebuild their egg-laying flocks.

3.35 at Winco last night.

They were about $2.80 for 18 at Kroger last night.

No worries, I'm sure there will be a new round of something along shortly.

So in all honesty egg prices should have never ever soared given the numbers of birds vs the number of affected birds.

So....did they just raise other prices?

If you're in Tennessee you really have no choice. I think I've been to one in New Mexico, too. Pleasantly surprised they sold booze

That reminds me - when are airlines ending their fuel surcharge that they "had to implement" because gas prices spiked a decade ago?

You'd be surprised how many murders happen at Waffle House

Waffle House is an national institution and must be protected at all costs.

Every visit is a diverse core sample of America's poor, and, uh, "culturally Southern."
