Waffle House has dropped its 50 cent surcharge on eggs. The chain added the temporary charge in February, when avian flu sent egg prices to record highs.

Yup, eggs are getting less expensive as farmers rebuild their flocks of egg-laying hens after bird-flu struck.

I looked at eggs a couple days ago... the half-dozen I used to buy for $0.99 is still $2.50 or so. So yeah, prices declining, but nowhere near where they had been.

My guess is that it may take the farmers a while to rebuild their egg-laying flocks.
