Should funding run out at the end of the month, "we will have the greatest hunger catastrophe in America since the Great Depression, and I don't say that as hyperbole", said Joel Berg, CEO of Hunger Free America.

Snap supports working families with low-paying jobs, low-income people aged 60 years and older and people with disabilities living on a fixed income, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

SNAP benefits go to poor people, but within the economy they go to stores and ultimately, farmers. We live in country that pretty much, at the highest level, doesn't care. It doesn't care that the poor live 9 fewer years than rich people, it doesn't care to support public education adequately, , and apparently it doesn't care how many people go hungry.

But the stock market is doing well, seems that is what America really cares about, the home of rich money.
