US Hikes National Park Fees for Foreigners

Foreign tourists visiting popular US national parks like the Grand Canyon and Yosemite will need to pay an extra fee, the Trump administration says. The Department of the Interior, which runs the country's national parks, said each international visitor will need to pay $100 per person on top of existing fees to access 11 of the most popular sites.

From 2026, non-residents will also need to pay more than $250 for an annual pass to the parks, while US citizens and permanent residents will continue to pay $80. The fee hike aims to "put American families first" and reflects President Donald Trump's goal to make the parks more accessible and affordable for US citizens, said the department.

Making the Parks free Would be.

And increasing the budget to maintain them and hire staff so admission fees wouldn't be necessary.

Trump and the Republicans want everything on the cheap.

Except the Ballroom.

This $100 fee on foreign guests will bring down attendance numbers.

Then Republicans will point to low attendance, and say National Parks are a waste of taxpayer money and should be privatized or sold off.

But hey at least the cost to enter the parks went down.

How the F will anyone know? By the way, lots of countries do this - Costa Rica, for example, gives "locals" a big discount.

It looks to me like Pres Trump is just trying, yet again, to offset his Large Lousy Law that gave extreme tax cuts to billionaires and cut health-care and food for workers.

I used to make a trip over the Going to the Sun Road in Montana every summer. Nice drive, about 3 hours. Not shelling out $200 for that.

This ugly maneuver is all about killing the National Park Service and privatizing it for rich people to control. Expect Yosemite and Yellowstone to turn into overpriced BS theme parks like Disneyland on steroids. I worked for the Park Service 5 different times and each time the budgets are smaller and they treat the employees much more like so much dirt.

My wife and I have been traveling the states for 40 years in RV's, 9 years them full-time starting in 2013. Any state the charged a higher rate for out of staters, we never went back to and avoided even traveling through. Screw them.
