The cruel irony of Republicans voting down ACA subsidies is that it will end up hurting Trump voters the most. 57% of ACA Marketplace enrollees live in congressional districts represented by a Republican. They're selling out their own voters.

While Johnson has not yet unveiled the specifics of his plan, an extension of the ACA subsidies is currently not expected to be included in the package. Johnson said the bill will "probably" be unveiled over the weekend ahead of next week's anticipated vote."

The choice that seems to be in front of many (most?) GOP Congress folk of late looks to be: step on to the Trump train, or be subject to a primary and lose.

Politicians rarely provide much in the way of real leadership. They've typically Peter Principled themselves into positions that, unfortunately for us, come with serious responsibilities the execution of which may have huge effects. Basically, they follow the favorable winds (as in favorable to them). The only way pols from MAGAt heavy districts will break from the GOP "concept of a plan" no plan is if a sufficient number of their own voters start banging at the doors. And MAGAts are a very long way from blaming Trump for anything. But this may just trump their out of control xenophobia and overheated concerns about sexual identity.

The Republicans are beginning to read the tea leaves and find out where it leaves them. Want to see a politician get religion? Threaten their seats and you will find suddenly they can do an about face over what they are in favor of.

For years this has been a wet dream of the Repubs, to eliminate ACA. Well, they got it and will reap the whirlwind that comes with it unless they can actually lower the costs of the healthcare industry as it jacks costs for coverage. As the more of the public finds it can't afford the price increase, they'll fall off the rolls of the insured, along with those healthy enough not to have to worry about pressing healthcare issues in their lives. That will leave fewer in the insurance pool, resulting in yet more price increases in the future.

The Repubs will be held directly responsible for this issue come election season and a few are starting to wake up to the results of an unhappy voter base.

Right, I mean why are they even having to come up with a new plan? Isn't everyone saving $2500/ year and keeping the Dr of their choice? Oh wait, we need to subsidize it? WTH, that's not what all the Dems said needed to happen when they came up with Obama care. Did they figure that out when they actually read the bill after they passed it like Pelosi told them?

Because they refused to tweak Obamacare for fear of being primaried, and then turned it into TrumpCare when they eliminated the mandate penalty.

As it turns out, "throwing a monkey wrench into the gears" isn't a feasible ongoing plan.

Republicans came up with Obamacare. First at the Heritage Foundation, then in Massachusetts.

Every honest broker (read: Trustee), when locked in a room and forced to make the equation work, has concluded a mandate is required.

Civilized countries include the amount for universal coverage in the overall tax bill.

Meanwhile, Obamacare minus Mandate equals TrumpCare.
