Donald Trump has said a deal to end the war in Ukraine is "closer than ever" but has admitted that "thorny" questions over the future of the eastern Donbas region have yet to be resolved, after a two-hour meeting on Sunday with Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Florida.

What does that even mean?

Is something imminent?

Or are we now 15 years away from peace, instead of 20 years away from peace?

Have Pres Zelenski and Pres Putin even discussed peace face to face yet?

Does Pres Putin even recognize the sovereignty, or even the existence, of Ukraine?

Then there seems to be a Pres Putin prevarication that Ukraine attacked Pres Putin's abode, and that will make peace talks more difficult.

In the peace discussions so far, I see that Pres Zelenski has changed his stance.

But Pres Putin still has not appeared to have given up any of his end goals.

imo, Pres Putin understands o e thing, and one thing only, in these negotiations: strength. And all that Pres Trump has shown so far is an obsequious weakness towards Pres Putin.

Imagine someone taking Ted Bundy's side and defending his murders, saying we will never have peace if we keep on trying to get those mass murderers to court. Putin is just such a mass murdering psychopath, who invaded a friendly country, killed many thousands of innocent people, so he could steal land.
