... "As America's 250th anniversary approaches, it is important to reflect on the ideals and events that have defined our past while keeping an eye towards our country's bright future," Carr said in a statement Friday. "I am calling on broadcasters to pledge to provide programming that promotes civic education, national pride, and our shared history."

But Carr's message to broadcasters comes as his critics are already uncomfortable with the agency's incursion into policing media content, which they say is an attempt to please President Donald Trump while infringing on the First Amendment.

Several broadcasters also have pending mergers and regulatory requests before the FCC, which could influence their response to Carr's request.

In the latest flare-up this week, CBS late-night host Stephen Colbert accused corporate lawyers at his network of unduly capitulating to new equal time guidance from Carr and sidelining his interview with Democratic Senate contender James Talarico -- claims that CBS later denied and Carr dismissed, saying Colbert had other options to air that interview.

Carr's new initiative takes the form of a voluntary "Pledge America Campaign" that broadcasters can join. ...

imo...

So, Chair Carr seems to be taking a stance of ~stand with us or stand against us~ approach to the FCC governance of the airwaves?

When Der Fuehrer says, "Is this the master race?"
We heil, heil right in Der Fuehrer's face
Not to love Der Fuehrer is a great disgrace
So we heil, heil right in Der Fuehrer's face

Yes, he's a lying Trump loyalist, but let's trust him when he's going after the Video legally, and trust whatever he says about Colbert's Talirico interview.

Like Jeffy Turley does!

At this point, "pro-Amarica" should include Republicans and billionaire-adjacent Dem leadership heads on pikes.

When you and I both know there's not a shred of "patriotism" in these d-bags' thoughts or actions. It's all performative BS. They actually hate what America once stood for.

He can ask whatever he wants. Even without asking there is no way these America hating left wing outlets would ever show anything positive about this country.

One reason I'm going to bail on the 250th. It will probably be spun as a tribute to the "dump". I will be unable to attend.

Freedom of assembly's a terrible thing, huh? Right to vote? The freedom to publish without intimidation?

These used to be positive things about this country. But now a news outlet is "left wing" for reporting on what's happening to them.

Check your sources for those that value what America has historically stood for, not those promoting the anti-values that have emerged in the last quarter-century.

HATING America would be supporting a criminal racist rapist traitor in the WH.

Which is what Bellboy and the other Trumpers are good at.

Now, think about who owns the networks and, ultimately, controls the content. Then, think about how mind-bogglingly stupid your comment is.
