GOP Weighing Health Care Cuts to Fund Iran War

Republicans are considering reductions in federal health spending to help pay for a budget bill containing as much as $200 billion to fund the Iran war and immigration enforcement.

Comments

Of course they are... rescinding the enormous tax cuts for their corporate/billionaire masters never entered their minds.

Not when they can take away health care from the middle class and the poor.

Thanks, Trumpers!

It's hard to believe we "can't afford" what other first-world countries provide to their populace.

Especially when we keep blowing that much, and more, on fireworks.

Well, there are those yuge tax breaks for the folks with enough dough to buy their very own Republicans. These would be some of the folks to whom Obama spoke when he reportedly said, "I'm all that stands between you and the pitchforks."

But that is simply beyond consideration now - just not not enough to go around what with Trump and his greasy grifters sticking their snouts into the public feed bag, his wars to fund, etc. - so just jam up everyone else instead.

"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible," JFK observed, "will make violent revolution inevitable."

To clarify

The Senate has 2 ways to pass an appropriation like this either as a budget increase (requires 60 votes to defeat a filibuster) or through budget reconciliation (only needs 50 votes). The budget reconciliation needs the appropriation to be budget neutral (in theory-in reality chicanery is done).

Since it would be impossible to get 60 votes for this appropriation the republicans who control both houses of congress will have to cut expenditures to cover it.

Thus cut healthcare for people to pay for a war of aggression

And as a reminder, the POTUS has not bothered himself to address the nation about a war that is over a month old, nor has Congress authorized it or any spending for it nor has Congress held any hearings or meetings about it.

This is dictator shit
