Iain Forrest, a medical student, was performing for evening rush commuters at an NYC subway station when a woman came up behind him and smacked him in the back of his head with his metal water bottle. "I don't think I can do this anymore," he announced on his Instagram two days later. "I'm suspending subway performances indefinitely."

'This marks the second attack I've endured in less than a year while performing for New Yorkers in subway stations,' the performer wrote on social media. Forrest is wrapping up his MD-PHD studies at Mount Sinai's Icahn School of Medicine

I pity the guy when he's hit with his first medical malpractice suit.

@#1 ... 'This marks the second attack I've endured in less than a year while performing for New Yorkers in subway stations,' ...

A couple of comments...

1) I no longer visit NYC. I used to visit NYC often, but no more.

2) I remember from a PBS special about Steely Dan back in the 90's, that Steely Dan noted they hired a subway musician for the album they were recording.

And, I do not say that lightly.

Back in my high school days, the NYC subway was my "school bus."

When I got off the SI Ferry in Manhattan, I walked across the street to the Whitehall Street subway station to catch the BMT RR local train to DeKalb Avenue in Brooklyn.

Each day for my high school years.
