Moscow expels diplomats who wouldn't shut up about Dr. Who

Explaining that Russia's patience on the matter had finally reached a breaking point, officials in Moscow confirmed Friday they had expelled six British diplomats who would not shut up about Doctor Who.

Doctor Who even tried to pander to Russia by having parts of a story set in Moscow a few years ago. See where it got them? Nowhere.

Back, a long time ago, I was a Dr Who fan.

But I lost interest when most of the episodes always seemed to wind up based in London.

That seemed, to me, to run contrary to the premise of the series.

So I lost interest in the show. That was years ago.

Apparently, there still seems to be enough interest in the flawed premise of the show that it continues on ...

I'm four episodes into the reign of Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor ... well, five if you count the "Doctor Who Special 4" in which he met his companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) ... well, five and a half if you also count the "Doctor Who Special 3" in which he emerged, via the world's first bi-regeneration, from the side of the Tenth-turned-Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant).

In any case, I'm burrowed into this season of "Doctor Who" and as per regenerative usual, I'm feeling conflicted. ...

True. Cheaper to shoot at Canary Wharf than the Giza Plateau.

Some years back a fight erupted in a Belfast pub. Police reported something like seventy people were on hand when a guy was killed with a broken bottle. And they all told police they hadn't seen a thing , having been in the bar's one-person toilet at the time. Which the coppers immediately christened "the Tardis."

When Doctor Who came back from a long hiatus in 2005, there was a lot of discussion about whether it would be a continuation or a reboot of the original series. Russell Davies managed to walk the fine line of making something accessible to new viewers and also pleasing for old fans who wanted to tie it into the original show. Now, after returning to run the show again, he's done the exact opposite.

RTD reminds me of a left-wing version of Trump... he looks and tired and apathetic, is past his prime, and he clearly has a very condescending view of black people. Even his voice mannerisms are similar to Trump's in interviews.

Nice attempt at a pun there, but all true fans know that the lead character was called The Doctor, not Doctor Who.

Despite the fact he was credited as Dr. Who or Doctor Who in the end credits until 1980, and again in 2005. But we won't talk about that.
