I've said it before and I will say it again...

Legalized gambling (casinos, video slots, sports books, etc) are destroying lives.

MLB, NHL, NFL, NBA partnering with them is just making it worse.

A friend of mine from 5th grade is running his bar into the ground gambling away all the money to the point where he has missed payrolls and sales tax payments. What's worse is the lies that he tells me and his wife about it. After swearing up and down he is no longer gambling, I did his taxes for him and he said he forgot to get me his win/loss report for 2023 from the casino. Gambled away $70K while their house is being foreclosed on. Worse yet he guilts me when he asks to borrow $1000 for "groceries" and tell him no. I told him once that I will take him to the store and pay for the groceries myself for him and said told me to "fk off" and hung up.

BINGO! There is a special faction in America that oddly and always have a big hand in promoting addictive societal policies that end up making the promoters very rich while creating harmful destructive behavior for many others. Look at gambling, drugs, social media for starters. And somehow they can always control the politicians behind it. I'm a big believer in personal and individual freedom but I'm not big on promoting or making access or this behavior easier and more convenient for the susceptible masses. Many people are overly susceptible and they always end up needing public help and hurting their lives and families. It is a difficult area of policy, but crooked politicians and their cronies like to see it because it brings money into their fold. Both parties likely have their hands in it, but around here generally Democrats are the primary catalysts.
