John Thune Is Senate Majority Leader
Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) has been elected Senate majority leader, setting the stage for him to replace retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who has held the top Senate GOP leadership job for the past 18 years.

The hardliners wanted Scott. Thune's appointment shows that the cooler heads are still in charge at the moment.

a compromise perhaps...
sources in Texas tell me Cornyn will be heavily primaried next time.....and literally wasted his time running...
and Thune was seen as between the 2...
at least the coward "turtle head" is gone...

At last, something we can agree on, STD: McConnell's cowardice. Thune actually might be halfway decent. Certainly the best we could hope for from Trump.

Getting the Not As Bad As It Could Have Been candidate from the GOP is about the best we can hope for these days.
Just glad it wasn't Skeletor.
