"Murdered Insurance CEO Had Deployed an AI to Automatically Deny Benefits for Sick People
Just over a year before United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson was murdered this week in Midtown Manhattan, a lawsuit filed against the insurance giant he helmed revealed just how draconian its claims-denying process had become.
Last November, the estates of two former UHC patients filed suit in Minnesota alleging that the insurer used an AI algorithm to deny and override claims to elderly patients that had been approved by their doctors.
The algorithm in question, known as nH Predict, allegedly had a 90 percent error rate " and according to the families of the two deceased men who filed the suit, UHC knew it."

The media is painting this guy to look like some kind of hero great human being. He was not. I got filled in by my international journalist buddy today as to exactly what this company is all about. Here are two examples. First, they overcharged my buddy on his health care by $2000 dollars and when he told them that they did this they sent him his first pay back check for $1.78. At this rate, it will take them 17 years to pay his two grand back. Second story is that if you have a baby the rate for health care is double until they are two years old and if you fail to remind them that you kid is no longer in that age range they will keep billing you and you cannot get that money back even if you beg for the 17 year pay deal at $1.78 per month. To make a long story short, this "billionaire" was a scumbag grifter and I could give two hoots that he got what was coming to him. I say bring back the guillotines and start lopping some heads of company CEO's unless they are willing to spread their wealth around back to those they robbed with the aid of the US congress that enabled all these scumbags to rape the rest of at will. Gas, food, health care, education, clothing and on and on...
