The First Amendment protections, including freedom of speech and the right to peacefully assemble, are generally afforded to people on student visas in the United States. Once international students are lawfully admitted to the U.S., they are invested with the rights guaranteed by the Constitution to all people within U.S. borders.

Based on recent developments, international students on F-1 visas participating in pro-Palestinian protests on U.S. campuses could potentially face visa revocation and deportation, although the legality of such actions is highly contested.

In January 2025, President Donald Trump signed an executive order aimed at combating what his administration termed an "explosion of anti-Semitism" on college campuses. This order directs federal agencies to take action against non-citizen students involved in activities deemed antisemitic, which could include pro-Palestinian protests. The executive order allows for the identification and potential removal of non-citizens involved in activities categorized as antisemitic. Universities are now required to monitor and report activities by international students that could be considered antisemitic. Some students have already reported visa cancellations without explanation, particularly those from Gaza. Legal experts argue that these actions likely violate First Amendment rights, which apply to all individuals in the U.S., regardless of citizenship status.

While the executive order has created a climate of fear among international students, legal experts believe that any deportation attempts based solely on peaceful protest activities would likely be overturned in court.

These were campus insurrectionists. Not peaceful or legal.

This is actually what Trump said:

All Federal Funding will STOP for any College, School, or University that allows illegal protests. Agitators will be imprisoned/or permanently sent back to the country from which they came. American students will be permanently expelled or, depending on on the crime, arrested. NO MASKS! Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I suppose King Trump gets to decide what he considers "illegal." Doens't matter, either way he can go fcck himself. Fascist POS.

Peaceful protests are a time honored and protected American tradition.

All Visitors are welcome to attend.

That includes you, too, if you can behave!

Pro tip for foreigners and maga: leave your long guns at home when going to PEACEFUL protests.

I don't appreciate Politico "sane washing" this, trying to downplay this, by making "illegal" mean "undocumented". That is not what Trump said. He didn't limit it to some weird "illegal" immigrants protesting. He said any illegal protest that a University allows. That's a hell of a lot broader. Does anyone think he is excluding Palestinian protests?

Seems reasonable though right, illegal is illegal.

You need permits to protest in America.

You aren't from around here.
You are clueless about our history.
You don't understand a thing, to be honest.
And no one in their right minds is going to try and bring you up to speed.
I recommend you start with the U.S. Constitution. Then look back on the events that lead to its creation.
Our nation is rooted in protest.
We aren't China.
Tiananmen Square is not ever supposed to be something that can happen here.

Four dead in Ohio.

If they're arrested, charged, and convicted, then deport them.

Until then, you've got nothing but anti-constitutional blather.
