China on Monday said the Trump administration is undermining the temporary May 12 trade agreement between the two nations by issuing AI chip export control guidelines, stopping the sale of chip design software to China and by planning to revoke Chinese student visas.

I was wondering when China would rebut Pres Trump's assertion about China violating the agreement.

In this case, I have little doubt that both countries are playing games.

@#2 ... I have little doubt that both countries are playing games. ...

I do not disagree.

It looks like China is taking a long-term (decades?) view, not only in the trade negotiations with the US, but in its aggressiveness in reaching trade deals with other countries. The latter may effectively make China less reliant upon the US for trade.

Meanwhile, Pres Trump's short-term (day-by-day?) whimsical approach to tariffs looks to have backfired on him more than once.

So, yes, both the US and China are playing games, but not the same game.

At this point, I would believe China, Europe, and just about anybody else than before Trump.

Yes. Thanks to the incompetence of our current Administration, China definitely has a tactical advantage. World economic dominance will very probably belong to the Chinese before the Trump Presidency is over.

Yup. And China looks to be truning that tactical advantage into a strategic advantage.

Like laying the foundation to bypass the US SWIFT system for global trading.

Dollar in Danger? China's Digital Yuan to Bypass 38% of Global Transactions Dominated by US System
infobrics.org

... Bypassing the US-dominated infrastructure for global trade, the People's Bank of China reportedly announced connecting 10 ASEAN and Middle Eastern nations, mitigating the need for the US-based SWIFT system for international trade in these regions.

The Digital Yuan, called Digital RMB, connected 10 ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) consisting of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam, and six Middle Eastern nations, including the UAE.

This undercuts SWIFT (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications), the US-based system for international trade transactions. ...

And what is Pres trump doing to counter this? Lowering global confidence in the US?

The left isn't championing China. Your guy is enabling (practically forcing) them to take over economic domination. I've been pretty sure for a while that Trump is deliberately taking down the USA. It's what he's been trying to do since his first term. Biden simply delayed his plans by 4 years. ..He's quickly catching up though.

#8 I read a quote a few weeks back that stated "China watches while the United States commits suicide."

Along those lines ...

China lifts suspension on five Brazilian soy exporters ahead of Lula visit (May 8, 2025)

... China, the world's largest soybean buyer, has lifted restrictions for Brazilian soybean shipments from five firms previously suspended over phytosanitary concerns, the Brazilian government confirmed on Thursday.

Earlier, Reuters reported, citing a source familiar with the matter and Chinese customs data, that China had resumed imports from the firms. ...

Brazil is the world's largest soybean producer and exporter, and the top supplier to China as the trade war drives Beijing to diversify away from the U.S., its second-largest supplier. ...

@#10

What might American soybean farmers think about China switching from America to Brazil for soybeans purchases?

As a comment on what China said, ... yeah.

thehill.com

... China says the US has "severely violated" their trade truce and that it will take strong measures to defend its interests.

China's Ministry of Commerce said Washington has "seriously undermined" the agreement reached during talks in Geneva last month, when both countries lowered tariffs on goods imported from each other.

The spokesperson added that US actions have also severely violated the consensus reached during a phone call in January between China's leader Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump. ...

What else your current got besides lame deflection attempts?
