"According to survivors, the attackers singled out the men, and asked their religion before shooting them. Some tourists said that they were asked to recite the Islamic verse of kalima. Of the 26 people killed, 25 were tourists, and one was a local Muslim pony operator who tried to wrestle a gun from the attackers. All tourists killed were Hindus, except for one identified as a Christian."
