"Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., came out against the emerging House legislation this week, saying it will explode the U.S. budget deficit.

"I don't see any scenario where it's going to be deficit-neutral. That's my problem," he told NBC News. "By my calculation, this is going to increase the deficit by $4 trillion."

''

"Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., has also been warning against Medicaid cuts as the House bill seeks to impose work requirements and provider funding limits that have been panned by critics.

''

"I will not support Medicaid benefit cuts," Hawley told NBC News on Tuesday, adding that he has "concerns with pieces" of the House bill because of what it would mean to rural hospitals in his state.

He later wrote on X: "I don't want to see rural hospitals close their doors because funding got cut. I also don't like the idea of a hidden tax on the working poor. That's why I'm a NO on this House bill in its current form."

Hawley's concerns are shared by Murkowski as well as Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, who voted against the budget framework last month, citing concerns about Medicaid cuts harming her state.'

Sounds like some Repubs love their jobs more than they do Trump's Kill America Bill.

@#3 ... House Republicans are freaking out about their own budget bill. ...

When, and how long is the upcoming Memorial Day recess for Congress?

OK looks like May 25-29 is a "State work period" when Legislators return to their home districts and states to hold Town Meetings with their constituents. ( www.doi.gov )

Fat chance of many Republicans holding town halls, at least not anything open to all of their constituents. They'll be calling them 'private gatherings' and checking voter ID cards at the door and only allowing registered Republicans to attend, which may not actually protect them much from the ire of the voters.

Yeah, I've noticed that also.

Why do Republicans seem to be so afraid of facing their Constituents?

And just like that, the Trump tax agenda falls by the wayside. Snap!

At first, when I read the headlines, I had thought that there were some Republicans who thought taking health-care away from the working poor in favor of giving tax cuts to billionaires was the reason why Republicans deserted the bill.

But it seems that the reason why Republicans deserted the bill was due to the bill not eliminating enough of the health-care for the working poor.
