Drudge Retort: The Other Side of the News
Wednesday, July 02, 2025

Police in Westbrook Maine have apologized after being caught lying to the public after posting an AI-generated photo on social media of purported evidence seized during a drug bust. Members of the public quickly began questioning the obviously manipulated photo shortly after it was posted. That prompted the department to reply that "We want to set the record straight " this is NOT an AI-generated photo." A few days later the post was removed and replaced with a public apology acknowledging that the department had attempted to use an AI-powered photo editor to add their logo to an image taken from a drug bust and failed to realize that the app had made other significant changes to the image.

Always question the police. They frequently lie.

The AI just happened to know what it should manipulate in the police's favor? Really?
It's hilarious how stupid the police think every else is.

All cops lie.
It's part of the training.
Cops should never be trusted.

Of course they lied.

The cop who did the AI could have easily added their logo using any photo editing software rather than AI.
