... Turkey detained three more mayors from the main opposition party on Saturday, according to a prosecutor's statement and media reports.

Over the past few months, Turkish authorities have launched a major crackdown, arresting hundreds of members of the Republican People's Party (CHP), including 11 mayors.

The highest profile arrest was of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu " the main challenger of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's 22-year rule.

Imamoglu was jailed in March, sparking the largest public protests in a decade.
What do we know about the arrests?

The Istanbul chief prosecutor's office said the mayors of three big southern cities were detained on allegations of extortion, along with eight other people.

Those held were the mayors of the southern city of Adana, the southern resort town of Antalya and the southeastern town of Adiyaman, CHP party officials said.

"Our Adana Mayor Zeydan Karalar, Antalya Mayor Muhittin Bocek and Adiyaman Mayor Abdurrahman Tutdere have been detained," Mansur Yavas, the mayor of Ankara, Turkey's capital, wrote on X.

Broadcaster NTV said the men were detained as part of the broader investigation in which hundreds of CHP members, including 11 mayors, have been targeted since October.

Erdogan's main political rival, Imamoglu, remains in jail awaiting trial on corruption charges that he denies. ...

Pres Trump has said that Democrats are 'enemies from within."

So how long before he starts to unleash his new ICE militia against Democrats?

Cool!
Totally a preview of what's going to happen here in America, the land of the free (as long as Trump likes you; then you be arrested by "ICE" or deemed "not cooperating with the DOJ").

First off, making conclusions on this article is just dumb. If every single one of those people broke the law and they were arrested, there is no problem. I'm not saying there can't be some shadiness going on but this article doesn't give ANY ammunition to make a conclusion one way or the other.

However, based on DR lib kids responses, it's very apparent they are being their normal selves when they don't want people who broke laws to be arrested. This has been the liberal theme since at least 2016 where liberals have done everything they can to stop police from arresting criminals, making sure they get no jail time or any repercussions, etc. It's sad to have a party in any political system that refuses to obey laws AND want to be free to refuse obeying laws. That is the liberal party of the 21st century. Both parties have their pros and cons and both are hypocritical and self-serving. However, in the Rep party it is a minority of stupid people who break laws, like racists wanting to kill someone of a different color, regardless if they are arrested or not. However, in the Dem party, it is filled with a majority of stupid people who want to be able to break laws and not be arrested. That isn't debatable as that is what has been reality for years now.

Knowing that and actually staying in the Dem party today is mind boggling unless you are fully supporting an anarchist system. And, if that is the case, then you ARE extremists and must accept that label.

Turkey's dictator is just being more humane... here we let radical rwingers assassinate our politicians, and then our Pres officially ignores their deaths.
