Did someone plant a seed of a spine in congress?

However, since Pres Trump's stooge, Spkr Johnson, has been keeping the House out of session (a.k.a. a paid vacation while Americans face basic food and health-care issues), what is the purpose of this bi-partisan effort in the Senate?
And... how long before Pres Trump reduces the Senate to the current irrelevance level of the House, effectively removing one of the three "checks and balances" of the Constitution?
Or, doesn't the Constitution seem to matter anymore?
(hint: don't ask the Supreme Court, as the GOP majority seems to be firmly in Pres Trump's pocket.)
(also, as part of that paid vacation, why is the GOP seeming to eschew local Town Hall meetings with constituents?)

@#2 ... Did someone plant a seed of a spine in congress? ...
imo, no.
It just looks like Pres Trump has not yet been able to work his influence (read: threats) on some Senators.

Congress has been ceding it's powers to 5he Executive for decades. Really nice to see the Senate take a first step toward hopefully moving back in the direction of reclaiming congressional powers.

No surprise. Dummkopf Trumpf lied to reporters on Air Force One that Canada PM Mark Carney apologized for the Ronald Reagan tariff TV advertisements ran by Ontario Premier Doug Ford: Trumpf Lies to Reporters on AF1.
Canadian TV network CBC reported that no such apology took place.
