preparing for guerilla warfare

I'm no military strategy expert, but the geography of Venezuela looks favorable to guerilla warfare outside the cities. Lots of forests and mountains with passes the locals will be very familiar with.

We're still PO'd because Venezuela arrested our oil execs, held them for years in really bad conditions, and told the US to frig off. And Venezuela is still suffering for it. Mostly because of us.

But this is all too risky, most likely illegal, and makes us comparable to Russia. And we know what happens to generals who disagree with the administration, so we can bet any military options are limited by arrogance and yes men. Posturing (bullying) is a common tactic with Trump and also Kegsbreth. I hope it's that.

Added to that, the US just isn't any damn good at this sort of stuff.
The initial blasting, kabooming, and lighting up the night sky stuff?
Yeah., okay, grrrrrrrrr.
But the actual hard werk afterwards?
Pretty wretched, when you think about it.

Invading a country to create a democracy.

Many don't understand the irony. Some get it, but apparently not enough.

Reminder: 1) The US Army recently re-started its Jungle Operations Training Center (JOTC) in Panama; 2) The US military will NOT be participating in NATO training exercises in 2026 and henceforth.

Sidenote: Many veterans of the Vietnam War are still dealing with fungus they picked up in the jungles of SE Asia. Since then, more persistent fungus has been discovered worldwide which has made its way to the US, particularly to our hospitals.

Illegal war of aggression against a nation that is no danger to the US...well, being a mass murderer worked for Putin, it let him consolidate power, and now I suppose that is Trump's plan.

The US oil industry has never gotten over the butthurt of getting tossed out when Chavez nationalized their oil and US foreign policy has been dedicated to reversing that ever since. Now, BIG OIL has a tool in the White House that is desperate for distraction from domestic disasters. Stay tuned.

When Middle Eastern "Al Qaeda" magically morphs into Central/South American "El Qaeda". America and Americans never learn.
