Excerpted from the lawsuit:
"The District of Columbia denies law-abiding citizens the ability to register a wide variety of commonly used semi-automatic firearms, such as the Colt AR-15 series rifles, which is among the most popular of firearms in America, and a variety of other semi-automatic rifles and pistols that are in common use."
The lawsuit is seeking a "permanent injunction prohibiting all DC Defendants from arresting and levying fines against otherwise law-abiding citizens for possessing the AR-15 and all other firearms protected by the Second Amendment and being possessed or used for lawful purposes."
The plaintiff, andrew.darlington@usdoj.gov, did not demand a jury trial for this civil case. The Court Clerk has not yet selected which judge in the District of Columbia will try the case and therefore there is no case number yet.
~snip~
In an average year, 174 people die and 927 are wounded by guns in the District of Columbia. Our nation's capital has the highest rate of gun violence in the US. Gun violence costs the District of Columbia $2.0 billion each year, of which $106.4 million is paid by taxpayers ($2,844 per resident each year).
According to the Gun Violence Archive, the US experiences an average of about seven to eight mass shootings per week. There have been 398 mass shootings in the US so far this year, using the definition of four or more people shot in a single incident, excluding the perpetrator. This averages to roughly one mass shooting every 18 hours, or about 7.6 per week.
Below, the utterly repulsive animal-killing oligarchic son of Dummkopf Trumpf poses with an assault rifle which has an Iron Cross attached on its side. The ammunition magazine clip seems to have an image of Hillary Clinton embossed on it.
