A good friend of mine and his wife rushed 75 miles to adopt a collie that was just about to be euthanized.

A few months later, they saved another dog and a cat at the last minute.

Now living with VC and JC are three dogs, four cats, and his mother-in-law.

Our latest foster failure is a young, now 75 lb Great Pyrenees mix from West Tennessee who was roaming the countryside trying to stay alive. Like others who had less than ideal/horrible lives before coming into ours, the past six months he's transformed from a trembling, unsure guy who hid in the furthest corner he could find into a love sponge. Always happens. He and his 8 lb former street stray little brother crack us up with their playing.

Our friend's second canine adoption was so abused that he only started to raise his tail just a few days ago; the poor thing walks around their home at night when everybody else is asleep.

Our newest only started raising his tail a couple of months ago. Now he greets me when I wake up, chin on the mattress, tail wagging :-)

BTW, we read up on Great Pyrenees since he was our first GP. They're bred to guard herds and tend to be night owls.

Every one of the 15 dogs we've rescued off the street/adopted from rescue orgs have turned into love sponges. Every time. Your friend's dog will do the same. I haven't raised my voice at our newest one yet. Just fun, treats, love, and patience. He was very emaciated when I brought him home. Like the others who were food deprived, food is a great motivator.

That's extraordinary that you have rescued 15 dogs, AU.

Glad they all worked out well for you.

You were probably finishing college when this song came out: www.youtube.com
