A federal appeals court appeared ready Thursday to reject Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's effort to punish Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly over his call to US service members to refuse illegal orders.

Today, I was back in court, standing up against this Administration's attempts to silence me, millions of other veterans, and all Americans. Our vets deserve leaders who stand up for their rights, not try to take them away. That's why I'm not giving them an inch.

"These are people who served their country " many put their lives on the line," said Judge Florence Pan, an appointee of former President Joe Biden. "And you're saying that they have to give up their retired status in order to say something that is a textbook example taught at West Point and the Naval Academy " that you can disobey illegal orders."

This is common sense, principled Americanism.

If this attitude were more widespread, there would never be a MAGA and never be a Trump.

Refusing to obey an illegal order isn't an option in the US military; it's a requirement.
No surprise Pickled Pete, with his sick kink for war criminals, seems oblivious to that inconvenient truth.
Pickled Pete's vision for our military mirrors the regime's unveiling of ICE as the New Storm Troopers.
Pickled Pete's idea of "war fighter" is weirdly reminiscent of World War II's Einsatzgruppen.
Now there were some MAGAfriendly ROEs.

I would love for the opportunity to vote for Mark Kelly for President in 2028, it will take someone like him, with guts and intelligence, to try and reverse the horrendous damage the Trump grifting gang has done to our country.

Refusing to obey an illegal order isn't an option in the US military; it's a requirement.

But it does take courage and bravery.

Here are some inspiring examples:

Hugh Thompson (My Lai): Thompson landed his helicopter between American soldiers and fleeing civilians, ordering his crew to shoot at fellow soldiers if they continued to kill civilians.

Michael Jackson (Kosovo): British General Mike Jackson refused a direct order from U.S. General Wesley Clark to block Russian troops at Pristina Airport, stating he would not start "the Third World War".

Soldiers at My Lai: Multiple soldiers under Lt. Calley's command disobeyed implicit or explicit orders to participate in the mass murder and rape of civilians by refusing to participate in the killings.

Legal Duty to Disobey: Service members are legally required to obey lawful orders, but MUST refuse illegal orders"those violating the Constitution, U.S. law, or international law (such as the Geneva Conventions).

"Following Orders" Defense: "I was just following orders" is not a valid defense against war crimes.
