Nine people were injured in a shooting near the England team's World Cup base early on Saturday morning. As first reported by The Athletic and The Independent on Sunday, police were called to Troost Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, at approximately 4:00 a.m. Those affected sought treatment at nearby hospitals, and thankfully none of the injuries is believed to be life-threatening. Neither newspaper reports that any suspects have yet been taken into custody, according to the Kansas City Police Department. The incident occurred about seven kilometres from Swope Soccer Village, the England squad's base for the tournament under manager Thomas Tuchel. |
